Patch 26.4 Update: Teemo received changes this patch. Check the full patch 26.4 notes for details.
Low elo players don't buy Sweepers (Oracle Lens). They will walk into your shrooms repeatedly, dying to poison before they even see you. They also fail to respect his level 1-2 poison damage, often losing half their HP to a simple AA-Q harass. A smurf can place shrooms in specific pathing locations (like jungle entrances and objectives) to create a guaranteed winning map state.
The Blind Dart
Start E (Toxic Shot). Build your poison damage and harass the enemy whenever they walk up to last hit. Level 2 with Q (Blinding Dart) allows you to completely stop their trade. Your early lane presence is notoriously annoying and effective at forcing early backs.
Save Q for the Master Yi, the Jax, or the Draven. If they can't auto, they can't play. You are the anti-fun champion. Use your W move speed to kite them into your shrooms. Be annoying, be Teemo.
The Teemo Skin Tier List
'Beemo' is the definitive smurf skin—the 'buzz' sounds and the bee aesthetic are purely tilting. 'Little Devil Teemo' is a high-tier 'truth' choice. 'Omega Squad Teemo' offers amazing special ops animations. Avoid 'Badger Teemo' as it's a basic recolor.
'Beemo' for the sounds. 'Little Devil' for the truth. 'Omega Squad' for the grit. 'Spirit Blossom' for the beauty. Teemo is the most-hated for a reason—pick your outfit and earn that hate. Captain Teemo on.
'Beemo' involves bees. It's terrifying. 'Omega Squad' feels smooth. 'Little Devil' is accurate. Beemo is the optimal tilt skin.
When They Ban Teemo
If Teemo is banned, Heimerdinger offers a similar 'summon-and-frustrate' profile. Quinn for the ranged kiting and map pressure. Singed for the 'run-away-and-poison' tilt gameplay.
Heimerdinger turrets. Shaco boxes. Singed poison. Heimerdinger brings the zone control you love.
Heimerdinger for the turrets. Shaco for the boxes. Quinn for the range. Heimerdinger matches the 'don't walk here' zone control.
Runes That Work on Teemo
Press the Attack is the best choice for maximizing your 1v1 damage and kiting. Dark Harvest is an alternative for massive shroom-scaling. Secondary Sorcery with Manaflow Band and Transcendence to spam your shrooms more frequently.
Leveling Teemo's Abilities
Max E first—it's your primary damage source and makes your auto-attacks a nightmare. Max Q second for the increased blind duration. Max W last as the movement speed is sufficient with levels.
Mastering Teemo's Kit
Blinding Dart. Teemo fires a dart that deals magic damage and blinds the target, causing their basic attacks to miss. This is your primary defensive and dueling tool.
Move Quick. Passive: Teemo gains movement speed if he hasn't been hit by a champion/tower. Active: He gains double the bonus for a short duration. Use this to kite and maintain distance.
Toxic Shot. Teemo's basic attacks deal bonus magic damage on hit and extra damage over time. This makes him one of the best harassers in the top lane.
Noxious Trap. Teemo tosses a mushroom that becomes invisible and explodes when an enemy walks over it, dealing damage and slowing. Use these as wards and zone control.
Matchups That Matter for Teemo
Easy Matchup (if played right). You can blind him every time he tries to E-AA you. Your poison will tick him down while he's in his R. Just play safely and don't get dove.
Easy Matchup. He has no way to reach you if you kite correctly. Save your Q for when he tries to Q-silence you. He will be forced to back or die to shrooms.
Hard Matchup. His ghouls and Maiden can out-push you and his cage (W) is a death sentence. You have to win the early poke or he will take your tower by level 7.
Shroom Placement Ego
Stop wasting your Q for random poke! Save it for when the enemy tries to trade or engage. If you blind a Yi or Tryndamere at the right time, you win; if you waste it, you die. Also, don't just throw shrooms on top of the enemy—place them in the paths they *will* take. Also, remember to stay still to go invisible!
Don't place them too close together. The damage doesn't stack, only the duration. Space them out for maximum tilt. You're the reason they buy sweepers—and when they do, kill them anyway. Scout's honor.
When the Lane Is Unplayable
Dodge if facing heavy 'sweep' or 'long-range poke' comps with Rengar (who can jump on you) or Xerath who can destroy you from afar. Also dodge into Ryze or Cassiopeia who can out-damage and out-range your blind.
Ryze/Cassiopeia machine gun you. You can't blind spells. Malphite Q pokes you out. Do not pick Teemo into mages.
Dodge Ryze/Cassiopeia. They spam spells. Blind does nothing. Also Sion/Tahm Kench/Ornn. Tanks just ignore you eventually.
Positioning Is Everything
In teamfights, you are a zone-defense carrying machine. Pre-shroom the area around the objective. During the fight, focus on blinding the enemy's primary auto-attacker. Stay at the edge of the fight, using your W to reposition and your Q to peel. You are the hidden danger that turns a fight into a slow death.
Mushrooms on the edges of the lane. Mushrooms in the river. Fight around your mushrooms. Bait them into the minefield. Invisible passive in the middle of lane is funny.
The On-Hit Teemo Build
Full AP 'Minefield' Teemo. Liandry's Torment -> Demonic Embrace -> Rabadon's Deathcap. With this build, one shroom will take 70% of a squishy's health. It's hilarious to see an enemy flee from a fight only to die to a mushroom in a random bush. Maximum BM, high-risk.
Nashor's into Liandry's. That's the core. You deal massive AA damage and massive shroom damage. Add a Malignance for the shroom-haster and MR shred. You're a toxic little scout—lean into it. Triple the poison.
Teemo's Strongest Moments
Level 1-2 is your strongest 'piss-off' window. Level 6 is your map-control spike. Your biggest item spike is reaching Nashor's Tooth and Liandry's, which turns your auto-attacks and shrooms into massive threats.
Level 1-3 lane bullying. Level 6 map takeover. 3-item burn spike. By late game, the enemy jungle should be a no-go zone. If they step out of lane, they die. Teemo is the true end-boss of League.
Level 1 invis cheese. Level 6 Shroom kingdom. Liandry's completion. You win by making the enemy jungler afraid to enter their own jungle.
The Shroom Minefield
Type 'Never underestimate the power of the Scout's code!' in all-chat after a shroom kill. Spam the 'laugh' emote while invisible near a low-HP enemy. The sight of a Teemo appearing from thin air to Q-Ignite is a psychological trigger for rage-quitting.
Place shrooms in a line down the middle of the lane. They can't walk to your tower without hitting 3. Or place them in the enemy jungle near buffs. You're a scout; map control is your game. One shroom, one kill.
