Champion Stats
Draven's passive (League of Draven) grants bonus gold on every kill based on his Adoration stacks. One kill with 100 stacks becomes 600+ bonus gold—that's half an item for free. Two kills? You're a full item ahead of the enemy ADC. Low elo players walk up to trade auto-for-auto like the champion doesn't matter, not realizing that Draven's Q-empowered autos hit like a truck early game. You two-shot their support at level 2, then run down the ADC with W resets while they're still confused.
The Spinning Axe
Wait in tribush or river bush. Start Q (already spinning both axes). When the enemy bot lane face-checks or walks too close, unload with Auto-Auto-Auto (catching axes between each). With Hail of Blades or Lethal Tempo stacking, you win this trade in 2 seconds. Force them to burn summoners or kill them outright. If you don't cheese level 1, zone them off the first wave entirely with axe threat.
Bush cheese at level 1 is how you win the game in the first 3 minutes. If you get a level 1 kill, the game is already over. Mash your axes, catch them all, and run them down. Don't be afraid to take a few hits—you deal double.
The Draven Skin Tier List
'Gladiator Draven' is the smoothest and has iconic recall BM (the crowd chant is legendary). 'Soul Reaver' has darker VFX that are arguably harder for enemies to track visually—slight advantage. 'Primetime Draven' is funny for the commentary lines but feels slightly clunkier to some players. 'Santa Draven' is for the memes.
'Gladiator' is the only choice for a serious Draven main. The crowd chant is your win music. 'Soul Reaver' is for the edgy edgelords. Avoid 'Draven Draven'—it's funny for 10 minutes then it's just distracting.
When They Ban Draven
Samira is the closest aggressive lane pivot. Lucian for the burst trades. If you pick Kalista, remember your fingers will hurt by the end of the game. Stick to Samira if you want the snowball potential.
Samira offers similar aggressive snowball potential. Lucian provides burst trading and lane dominance. Kalista is for players who want high-skill early aggression. Samira is the closest 'reset' carry.
Runes That Work on Draven
Hail of Blades for instant burst in short trades—three rapid autos delete squishies. Lethal Tempo for extended all-ins and scaling into teamfights. Treasure Hunter is MANDATORY; Draven needs gold income to snowball. Eyeball Collection stacks fast when you're killing everyone. Secondary: Bloodline + Coup de Grace or Boneplating + Overgrowth depending on lane threat.
Leveling Draven's Abilities
Max Q first for pure damage per auto-attack. Max W second for lower cooldown and more chase/kite potential. E last; it's just utility (slow/knockback/interrupt).
Mastering Draven's Kit
Spinning Axe landing location is determined by your movement command IMMEDIATELY after the auto-attack fires. If you're standing still, it lands on you. If you're walking forward, it lands ahead. Master this to chase enemies while catching axes seamlessly—you should never stop moving.
Blood Rush resets its cooldown every time you catch an axe. In an all-in, you should be pressing W literally every second. The attack speed steroid stacks with Lethal Tempo for absurd DPS. Mana management is the only limit—don't run OOM in lane.
Whirling Death is a global ult that returns to you after hitting a champion OR when you reactivate it. You can Flash sideways while it's returning to change the angle and swipe through enemies who thought they dodged it. Use R to snipe kills across the map or to start fights by chunking frontliners.
Matchups That Matter for Draven
Annoying Range Advantage. Do NOT trade at her range—she wins. Wait for her to misstep near your tower, then all-in and run her down. You out-damage her in extended fights.
Skill Matchup. She can Windwall your axes mid-flight, which is infuriating. Bait her W before committing. If she uses W early, she dies.
Slow Makes Catching Axes Difficult. Her permaslow screws your axe positioning. Bring Cleanse or Ghost. In all-ins, you out-damage her, but she can kite you if you don't land E.
Cash-In Greed
Do NOT dive for a kill just to cash in your Adoration stacks and then die. Dying costs you HALF your stacks—that's potentially 300+ gold gone. Stay alive to cash in properly. Also, the #1 rule: catch the axe. If you drop axes, you do no damage and have no passive stacks. Practice axe juggling until it's second nature.
You can direct where your axes fall based on your movement. Master the 'triangle' pattern in lane to keep your axes safe from enemy poke. A Draven who can control his axes is a Draven who wins lane.
When the Lane Is Unplayable
Dodge if the enemy drafts Nautilus support with a strong early ADC like Caitlyn. Nautilus point-and-click lock down ruins your kiting, and Caitlyn outranges you. This lane is unplayable without jungle help. Also dodge heavy poke lanes like Xerath support—you can't catch axes while dodging skillshots.
Nautilus will hook you out of your axe-catching rhythm and you'll die. Caitlyn outranges you. If you see them, buy Vamp Scepter early and just survive until your jungler arrives. One cash-in saves the game.
Positioning Is Everything
Stand in the backline. Throw axe. Catch axe. W reset (attack speed + movement speed). Throw axe. Repeat. If an assassin dives you, E them away (Stand Aside interrupts dashes). Use R globally to execute low-HP targets escaping fights or to start a fight by chunking someone. If you drop axes in a teamfight, your damage output craters—focus on juggling while positioning safely.
Draven is a front-line ADC. If you get the lead, stand in front of your support and bully them. In teamfights, your E (Stand Aside) is your life. Use it to stop Alistar combos or Zac jumps. Catch the axes or lose your damage.
The Snowball Draven Build
Bloodthirster first item into The Collector. You heal to full HP every 2-3 autos and execute anyone below the threshold. Maximum toxicity. 'Lethality Draven' (Youmuu's + Axiom Arc) is a meme but surprisingly fun—you just R constantly across the map.
IE into Collector is the 'I win' core. Bloodthirster if you need the sustain. If you're 10/0, go for Axiom Arc and just R every 20 seconds for the cross-map snipes. Avoid building too much lethality against tanks.
Bloodthirster first item into The Collector. You heal to full HP every 2 autos and execute anyone low. It's maximum toxicity. 'Lethality Draven' with Hubris is a meme but snowballs harder if you get a kill early.
Draven's Strongest Moments
Serrated Dirk is your first spike—lethality on already-high AD autos is brutal. First full item completion (Infinity Edge or Bloodthirster) is the 1v2 window. Every time you return to lane after cashing in kills, you're spiked. Respect your power; don't int before Dirk unless you have a massive HP advantage.
Serrated Dirk is your lane owner signal. One axe with Dirk chunks for 20% HP. Once you have IE, your crits will one-shot ADCs. Draven doesn't fall off gold-wise, he just becomes a target—don't get caught.
The Adoration Cash-In
Recall in their face after a kill—the Gladiator recall with the crowd chant is maximum BM. Spam the 'Draven' emote. Type 'Welcome to the League of Draven' after your first kill. The champion is DESIGNED to tilt enemies; embrace it. Flash mastery after every axe catch. Draven mains are legally allowed to be toxic (not really, but it feels that way).
Typing 'Where is the challenge?' after a triple kill is mandatory. Draven is the face of League toxicity—embrace it. If they aren't complaining in all-chat, you aren't playing Draven right.
