Champion Stats
Low elo players have no concept of how to deal with Counter Strike (E). They will dump all their auto-attacks and targeted abilities into it, essentially charging up Jax's stun for free. They don't know how to kite his Leap Strike (Q) or respect his 6-hit passive ramp-up. Most importantly, low elo teams don't know how to respond to a dedicated split-pusher, often sending too many or too few people to stop him.
The Counter Strike
Start E (Counter Strike). Walk into the middle of the enemy minion wave and bait the enemy laner into auto-attacking you. Activate E to doge the autos and minion damage, which increases the stun's damage. Walk onto them and land the stun, followed by 2-3 autos. You'll win the trade decisively and have priority from the start.
E blocks all auto attacks. Minion aggro, champion autos, TF gold card. Use it to dodge the big hit (Nasus Q, Darius W). Don't pop it instantly; let it run to soak damage, then stun. It reduces AOE damage too!
Ranking Jax's Skins
'Mecha Kingdoms Jax' has incredibly smooth auto-attack animations and a very clear E radius. 'God Staff Jax' looks prestigious and has satisfying sound effects on his W-empowered hits. 'Angler Jax' is a classic 'pay-to-win' skin with subtle animations that are harder to track. Avoid 'SKT T1 Jax' if you want a serious feel, as the 'bonk' sound effect can be distracting.
'Mecha Kingdoms' feels powerful but large. 'God Staff' is the gold standard for smoothness. 'Angler' and 'Pax' are the OG flexes. 'Neowax' (Neo Pax) is cool. The 'Bonk' sound on the SKT skin is satisfying. God Staff wins for clarity.
When They Ban Jax
If Jax is banned, Fiora offers similar split-pushing and dueling pressure. Tryndamere provides a more straightforward 'right-click and win' style. Camille is a great alternative for better target access and pick potential.
Tryndamere for the split push. Fiora for the dueling. Camille for the engage. Jax is the master of arms; Fiora is the mistress of the duel. Similar vibes, different mechanics.

Jax's Keystone Choice
Lethal Tempo is the best rune for Jax, allowing him to stack attack speed rapidly and win almost any extended duel. Triumph provides much-needed sustain during 1v2s or teamfights. Legend: Alacrity further improves your scaling. Secondary Inspiration with Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight gives you free gold and more frequent flashes/ignites.
Skill Max Order for Jax
Max W first to maximize your burst damage and lower the cooldown of your primary trading tool. Max Q second for the mobility and lower jump cooldown. E is maxed last because its utility is fixed, and the damage scaling isn't as impactful as your other abilities during the mid-game.
Mastering Jax's Kit
Leap Strike can be used on enemies, allies, wards, and even Jarvan's flag. It's your primary mobility tool. Use it to escape over walls or to gap-close onto priority targets. Don't use it to engage unless you're sure you don't need it to escape.
Empower is an auto-attack reset. The optimal combo is Auto -> W to maximize DPS. It also works on towers, making Jax one of the fastest turret-shredders in the game. Always use it whenever it's off cooldown during a trade.
Counter Strike dodges all incoming basic attacks for 2 seconds and reduces AoE damage. After 2 seconds or upon reactivation, it stuns nearby enemies. You can reactivate it early to catch enemies off-guard. It's your most important defensive and offensive tool.
The Jax Matchup Sheet
Skill Matchup. It's all about the parry. If she parries your E stun, you lose. Bait her Parry with Q, then activate E later. You outscale her in pure teamfighting.
Easy Lane. Your E completely cancels her entire kit. Save it for when she tries to Q onto you or use her passive. You simply out-stat her in every trade as long as you have E up.
Hard Counter. He will poke you out of lane and knock you away whenever you try to jump on him. Play for the late game, take Second Wind, and pray for ganks.
Lamp Post Overconfidence
Stop jumping into the entire enemy team without a plan. Just because you have E doesn't mean you're unkillable; you're still susceptible to magic damage and hard CC. Also, don't forget to use your R active! The bonus resistances are massive and often the difference between winning a close 1v1 and dying.

When They Kite You Out
Dodge if facing Malphite or Garen. Malphite's E cripples your attack speed, making it nearly impossible to stack Lethal Tempo or your passive. Garen can silence you to prevent your E usage and eventually out-execute you. Also dodge against heavy-CC kite comps that you can't easily reach.
The Split Decision
Your primary goal isn't to be a front-line tank. Instead, look for flanks or wait for the initial engage to happen. Use Q to jump onto the enemy backline, activate E to dodge their defensive autos, and blow them up with W resets. If you can force the ADC out of the fight or kill them, you've done your job. Otherwise, stick to split-pushing and taking towers.
Your E damage increases by 20% for every attack dodged, up to 100%. In a 1v2, let the minions and the non-threat attack you first to charge up the stun damage for the primary target. It's the secret to those '1-HP' triple kills.
The Hybrid Jax Build
Full AP Jax. Rush Lich Bane into Rabadon's. Your Q and W have massive AP ratios, and your R passive deals magic damage. You'll literally one-shot squishies with a single jump-bonk combo. It's not the most viable build for ranked, but for stomping low elo, it's pure comedy.

When Jax Comes Online
Jax's first major power spike is at Level 6 when he gains his R passive damage. His biggest item spikes are Divine Sunderer (or Trinity Force) and Blade of the Ruined King. Once you have two items and Level 11, you can duel almost anyone in the game. You truly become a god once you hit Level 16 and full build.

The Grandmaster's Dodge
Type 'Who wants a piece of the champ?' in all-chat after every successful 1v2 outplay. Emote spam while you're split-pressing towers right in front of the enemy. Nothing tilts an enemy top laner more than being solo-killed by a Jax who has been farming peacefully for 10 minutes. Use the 'bonk' sound of your W to assert dominance.
