Why High-Elo Players Smurf with Yuumi
Low elo players do not know how to focus the carry when a Yuumi is attached. They waste cooldowns trying to poke you (which you shield) or engage on your host (whom you heal). Her Q (Prowling Projectile) is now a steered missile that applies a slow and on-hit damage buff, allowing your ADC to chase down kills they would otherwise miss. The 'Best Friend' passive rewards you for sticking to your smurf duo, granting them increased healing and shield power that scales into the late game.
The Level 1 Cheese
First Blood Strategy
Start Q (Prowling Projectile). It is one of the strongest level 1 trading tools if you land it. Steer it around minions to hit the enemy ADC. The slow allows your ADC to land 2-3 free autos. If they try to trade back, your Passive shield negates their damage. You win the attrition war before the lane even starts.
The 'Pay-to-Win' Skin Advantage

Lulu offers the best 'protect the puppy' playstyle.
Soraka is the premier healer.
Milio is the new 'range extender' enchanter.

Order:
Q → E → WMax Q first for the poke damage and slow strength. Max E (Zoomies) second for the shield and attack speed buff. W is maxed last as the % healing scales with ally level mostly.
Mastering Yuumi's Kit
Prowling Projectile. Steerable missile. If it hits an enemy, it deals damage and slows. If sitting on Best Friend, it also grants on-hit damage.
You and Me!. Attach to an ally. Untargetable (except towers). Grants Adaptive Force (Removed in rework? No, grants finding Best Friend stacks mostly now/Healing on-hit).
Zoomies. Grants a shield and Attack Speed (and Move Speed). Restores mana to ally? No, just Shield/AS/MS now.
Final Chapter. Channels waves that damage and Slow enemies. Heals allies. Massive AoE tool.
Matchup Tips
The hard counter. He isolates your carry and kills them, leaving you helpless. Ban him or dodge.
Dangerous. His execute ignores your shields. You cannot save your ADC from R.
Kill Lane. If she engages, you must respect the CC chain.
The Ego Check
WARNING: Do not detach in a teamfight unless you are 100% safe! The rework removed your passive mana restore on autos, so there is LESS reason to detach aggressively. Your job is to stay alive and keep the 'Best Friend' alive. If your host dies, you are dead. Also, don't sit on a tank if your ADC is the win condition; build the Best Friend bond with the carry.
When to Queue Dodge
Dodge Mordekaiser. If he Ults your host, you fall off and die instantly. Nautilus is annoying because he can hook you if you ever detach.
Teamfight Role
Press R (Final Chapter) when the enemy engages. It heals your team and slows the enemy massive amounts. Use E (Zoomies) to block burst damage on your carry. Land Qs to slow fleeting targets. You are the battery pack. If your carry is a hyper-carry (Twitch, Jinx, Zeri), you basically allow them to 2v5.
The 'Disrespect' Build
Full AP On-Hit Yuumi (with the right partner). Imperial Mandate -> Ardent Censer -> Staff of Flowing Water. Your Q applies Mandate, your E applies Ardent/Staff. Your carry becomes a machine gun of buffs.
Power Windows
Level 6. The R healing is massive. 2-Item spike (Ardent + Moonstone/Mandate) makes your host incredibly tanky.
Tilt Factor
Spamming 'You can't catch me!' emotes. Mastery flashing every time your carry gets a kill. The simple existence of a Yuumi tilts the enemy team because they feel it's 'unfair' to fight a 2-health-bar champion.
