Champion Stats
Low elo players struggle immensely with object permanence. Aurora's playstyle of constantly disappearing and reappearing breaks their brains. They will throw all their abilities at your clone or ghost, while you are flanking from the side. Her Ultimate is also a 'checkmate' button against immobile carries; if you catch a Jhin or Xerath in your R, they have nowhere to run and are forced to fight you in close quarters, which you win.
The Zoning Play
The 'Q-Auto-Q' Trade. Start Q (Twofold Hex). Cast Q1 to mark the enemy and deal damage. Walk up or wait for them to walk up. Auto-attack them, then Recast Q (Q2) to pull the spirit back. This triggers your passive (3 hits), dealing massive % Max HP magic damage and giving you a burst of movement speed to disengage. It is one of the strongest Level 1 trading patterns in the mid lane.
Q1-E-Q2 is your fastest trade. If you miss the first Q, don't force it. Aurora is about the small pokes that lead to the execution. Patience in the lane wins you more games than raw aggression.
Which Aurora Skin to Use
'Battle Bunny Aurora' fits her erratic playstyle perfectly. The VFX on the ultimate are bright and clear, helping you see the boundary edge perfectly for your hops. The base skin is fine, but the Battle Bunny thematic tilts enemies more effectively.
'Battle Bunny' has the cleanest R boundary indicators. It's much easier to see the edges during a chaotic fight, helping you time your hops perfectly. The SFX are also slightly snappier, which helps with the trade rhythm.

When They Ban Aurora
Ahri and LeBlanc are your best pivots for the high-mobility burst lifestyle. If you go for Neeko, focus on the trickster aspect. You'll miss the 'Between Worlds' cage, but you'll have more AOE CC for the teamfights.
Ahri or LeBlanc offer the same mobile, burst-mage playstyle that frustrates opponents. Neeko is also good if you like the 'trickster' element. Ahri is the safest transition for dashing and charming.
Optimal Runes for Aurora
Aurora's Ability Priority
Q is your main damage source. E provides the slow and repositioning. W is your stealth/reset tool; max it last as the utility is front-loaded.
Mastering Aurora's Kit
Two-part cast. Q1 marks, Q2 calls it back. Passing the callback through enemies executes minions. Use Q1 to check bushes.
Invisibility + Dash. Taking damage DOES NOT break the stealth immediately, but revealing yourself does. Use it to reset aggro during tower dives.
Backwards jump + Slow. Use it offensively by aiming BACKWARDS to fling yourself FORWARDS.
The Realm. You can teleport between the edges. Walk into the wall to appear on the opposite side. Use this to dodge skillshots infinitely inside the zone.
Aurora's Lane Opponents
Hard Lane. She outranges you. You have to bait her E before you can engage.
Skill Matchup. You can hop out of his tornado range, but his wall blocks your Q. Don't fight him in the minion wave.
Skill Matchup. Use R when he Ults you. You can hop walls to wait out his Death Mark duration.
Syndra is a tough one. You have to bait her E before you can even think about going in. Against Yasuo, your goal is to pop his shield with a passive auto, then wait for windwall to go down. Don't fight him near your minions.
Cooldown Disrespect
Stop leaving your Ult zone! Between Worlds (R) only works if YOU are inside it or on the edge. If you panic and run away from your own ultimate, it breaks, freeing the enemies. You have to commit to the cage match. Use your hops to teleport from one side of the circle to the other to dodge damage, but stay in the ring. Also, don't W forward blindly to engage; save it to dodge the counter-engage.
If you leave your Ult circle, it breaks. This is the biggest mistake Aurora players make. You have to be patient. Use your W to stay safe inside the circle while the enemies are trapped. You are the master of the cage—act like it.
When the Poke Doesn't Land
Dodge Kassadin. He blinks out of your Ult and takes no magic damage. Dodge Irelia. She dashes onto you inside your Ult and you cannot escape her auto-attacks.
Kassadin is your permaban. He ignores your magic damage and blinks right out of your Ultimate. Irelia is even worse because she'll just dash through you inside your own cage. If you see either, roam constantly. Don't stay in lane.
Dodge Kassadin. He blinks out of your Ult and takes reduced magic damage. Dodge Irelia. She dashes onto you inside your Ult and you cannot escape her auto-attacks. Both ruin your day.
Zone Control in Fights
Flank. Use W to get close undetected. R onto the backline, trapping their ADC and Support. Burst the ADC, then use the R edge wrapping mechanics to teleport to the other side of the circle, confusing the Support. You excel in chaotic, spread-out fights.
You should be looking for a flank. Wait for the enemy CC to be used, then R onto their ADC. Use the R edges to teleport around and stay untargetable. You're an assassin first, a mage second. Delete the carry and get out.
The Poke Build
Lich Bane + Shadowflame. Since you weave autos, Lich Bane adds massive burst. Shadowflame ensures low HP targets die to your passive burn. This build one-shots squishies without needing your full Ultimate duration.
Lich Bane is mandatory because your passive wants you to auto-attack. Shadowflame ensures the burn finishes them off. If you're ahead, Mejai's is a great buy since your W makes you very hard to catch. Stay elusive.

Timing Aurora's All-Ins
Level 6. Your roam to bot lane with R is a guaranteed double kill. Trapping immobile ADCs (Ashe, Jhin) is free gold. Also 2-items (Luden's + Lich Bane).
Level 6 is your biggest spike. Your R is a death trap for immobile ADCs like Ashe. If you can land a roam bot at 6, you've won the game. Your 2-item spike (Luden's + Lich) is when your burst becomes unreactable.

The Cross-Map Play
Spam W just to disappear and reappear in random bushes. It makes them paranoid. When you trap them in R, stand just outside their range and emote before killing them. It's cruel but effective.
Spam W every chance you get. The sound of you disappearing and reappearing makes enemies second-guess every bush. Use that paranoia to control the map. A scared enemy is a tilted enemy.
