Champion Stats
Low elo players don't know how to punish Kassadin's early game. They will let him reach level 6 and his Rod of Ages for free, not realizing the monster they are creating. They also notoriously fail to track his R (Riftwalk) mana costs, allowing him to stack damage and then Flash-R into their backline for a triple kill. At level 16, he simply becomes a god that they cannot catch or kill.
The Fleet Footwork Farm
Kassadin has NO level 1 cheese. Your goal is to survive and farm. Start Q (Null Sphere) to gain a magic damage shield and poke from safety. Use your W (Nether Blade) to last-hit under tower and restore mana. Your early game is a game of attrition that you are expected to lose—until level 6.
You have NO level 1 cheese. Your goal is survival. Start Q for the magic shield to poke. Use W to last-hit under tower. Your early game is attrition. Give up CS to stay alive.
Skins Worth Buying for Kassadin
'Cosmic Reaver Kassadin' is the undisputed best skin—the animations are beautiful and the 'space blade' feel is top-tier. 'Hextech Kassadin' is the elite flex choice. 'Shockblade Kassadin' offers a very sharp and modern aesthetic. Avoid 'Festival Kassadin' unless you want to lean into the 'ugly-buff' flex.

When They Ban Kassadin
Vladimir offers similar AP scaling hypercarry potential. Fizz provides mobility and assassination. Ryze is the machine-gun mage alternative. Vladimir matches the 'late game god' feel.
Kassadin's Rune Page
Fleet Footwork is the best choice for survival and sustain in lane. First Strike is the alternative for a faster item path if you are in an easy matchup. Secondary Domination with Sudden Impact and Ultimate Hunter to have your Riftwalk up as often as possible.
What to Max on Kassadin
Max E first—it's your primary waveclear and damage tool, and it charges incredibly fast in teamfights. Max Q second for the increased shield strength and poke. Max W last as the mana restore and damage are sufficient at rank 1.
Mastering Kassadin's Kit
Null Sphere. You fire a projectile that silences channels (like Katarina R) and gives you a magic shield. Use this to win trades against AP mages.
Nether Blade. Passive: attacks deal bonus magic damage. Active: your next attack deals massive magic damage and restores a percentage of your missing mana (tripled vs champions).
Force Pulse. You charge this ability every time a spell is cast nearby. Active: you deal damage in a cone and slow enemies. This is your primary burst and waveclear tool.
Riftwalk. You blink to a location, dealing damage that increases with each consecutive cast (up to 4 stacks). The mana cost also doubles. This is your core—master the mana management.
Who Kassadin Beats (And Who Beats Kassadin)
Easy Matchup. You take reduced damage from her, can interrupt her dash with a well-timed E-slow, and your Q shield blocks her burst. You simply out-scale her at every point.
Hard Matchup. He deals physical damage, so your passive and Q shield are useless. You have to play perfectly safe until level 6 and a Seeker's Armguard.
Hard Counter. He will point-and-click stun you and kill you level 1-3. He is the ultimate gatekeeper for Kassadin. Ban or dodge this champion immediately.
Pre-16 Fighting
Stop jumping into 5 people without enough mana! Your R costs double with each cast. If you run out of mana mid-fight, you are a dead man. Also, don't be afraid to give up CS early to stay alive. A Kassadin with 100 CS and 0 deaths at 20 minutes is much scarier than one with 150 CS and 5 deaths.
Stop jumping into 5 people without mana! R costs double each cast. If you run out of mana, you die. A Kassadin with 100 CS and 0 deaths is scarier than one with kills who threw their lead.
When Assassinating Is Impossible
Dodge if facing heavy AD bruisers like Pantheon, Tristana, or Lucian in the mid-lane. They will abuse your weak early game and kill you before you reach level 6. Also dodge into Talon if you aren't confident in your armor runes.
Dodge heavy AD bruisers like Pantheon, Tristana, or Lucian Mid. They abuse your weak early game and kill you before 6. Also dodge Talon unless you rush Armorguard. You need levels.
Picking Off the Carry
In teamfights, you are an assassin. Wait for the fight to start and for some CDs to be spent. Then, Riftwalk (R) into the backline, use E and Q to burst a target, and R away to safety. Once you reach level 16, your R cooldown is so low that you can dash every second. Use this to chase down everyone and clean up the battlefield. You are the inevitable end.
Wait for CDs to be blown. Riftwalk (R) into the backline, burst a target, R out. At Level 16, R cooldown is 1 second. Dash in, kill, dash out. Repeat. You are the cleaner.
The Late Game Kassadin Build
Full AP 'One-Blink' Kassadin. Archangel's Staff -> Malignance -> Shadowflame -> Rabadon's Deathcap. With this build and a fully stacked R, you will literally delete people from the game with a single jump. It's high-risk because you lack the HP of Rod of Ages, but the damage is purely 'void-tier'.

When Kassadin Hits Hardest
Level 6 is your survival spike. Level 11 is your mid-game dominance. Level 16 is your WIN CONDITION—you become the strongest champion on the map. Your biggest item spike is Seraph's Embrace, providing the lifeline shield that lets you survive a dive.
Level 6 is survival. Level 11 is dominance. Level 16 is WIN CONDITION. Seraph's Embrace is your lifeline shield. Once you hit 16, tell your team to group and end.
The Riftwalk Spam
Type 'The balance of power must be preserved' in all-chat after a level 16 pentakill. The sight of Kassadin blinking across the screen and deleting health bars is a psychological fear trigger. Using your R to dodge a major ultimate and then killing the caster is the peak Kassadin experience.
Type 'The balance of power must be preserved' after a level 16 pentakill. Blinking across the screen deletes mental health. Using R to dodge a Malphite ult and killing him is the peak experience.
