Champion Stats
Low elo players don't track your cooldowns. They don't know when your W is available to re-blink. They don't track your clone. They panic-focus the wrong target. LeBlanc exploits all of this. You dash in, blow up the carry, and W or R-W back out. They're left clicking air while their ADC respawns. Furthermore, roams are devastating—one chain on an overextended top laner is a guaranteed kill.
The Distortion Trade
Start Q. Walk up to the enemy and Q them when they go for a minion. Auto-attack them once (procs Sigil mark for bonus damage). This trades 1/3 of their HP for minimal mana cost. Repeat until they're forced to use potions or back. At level 2, if they're ~50% HP, W-Q-Auto-Ignite kills them. First Blood at level 2 is common.
Your W deals decent AoE damage. Use it to thin the wave and poke at the same time. If you can Q the enemy and then W the wave while hitting them, you win the mana-efficiency war every time.
Which Leblanc Skin to Use
'Championship LeBlanc' has the smoothest W animation and chain sound effects. 'Coven LeBlanc' has beautiful but slightly confusing clone visuals (which is actually good—it confuses enemies too). 'Elderwood' is visually clean but the Q mark can be hard to see in forest terrain. Avoid 'Prestigious LeBlanc' for clarity reasons.
'Debonair' has a very subtle chain visual. In a chaotic river fight, the enemy won't even realize they're about to be rooted until it's too late. Use the aesthetic to your advantage.
When They Ban Leblanc
Ahri is the most similar 'dash and snare' alternative. Zoe if you want the long-range one-shots. If you pick Syndra, you're trading your mobility for raw power. Stick to Ahri if you want to keep the slippery assassin identity.
Ahri offers similar charm-dash playstyle. Zoe provides long-range sleep burst. Syndra gives pure burst. Ahri is the safest mobile mage replacement.
Optimal Runes for Leblanc
Electrocute is mandatory—Q-W-Auto procs it instantly. Taste of Blood for sustain, Eyeball Collection for AP stacking, and Ultimate Hunter for lower R cooldown. Secondary Sorcery (Transcendence + Gathering Storm) for CDR and late-game AP scaling. Alternatively, Inspiration secondary (Magical Footwear + Biscuit) for safer laning.
Leblanc's Ability Priority
Max Q first for poke and waveclear (Q-W clears casters). Max W second for lower cooldown on your dash—you become impossible to catch. Max E last because the chain damage isn't significant compared to Q's reliability.
Mastering LeBlanc's Kit
Sigil of Malice marks the enemy. Hitting them with another ability while marked triggers the BONUS damage. Q->W pops the mark. Q->R(Q) double-pops for massive burst. Always Q first in combos.
Distortion dashes you forward, dealing damage. You can RECAST W to return to the original location within 4 seconds. This is your escape AND your engage. Master the timing of when to return vs. when to stay.
Ethereal Chains roots enemies if the chain holds for 1.5 seconds. It's hard to land at range. Throw it AFTER you W in (when you're close). Or throw it during their dash animation—the chain will follow them.
Mimic copies the last spell you cast. R(Q) for burst damage. R(W) for double dash (engage or escape). R(E) for double chain (guaranteed root). Most of the time, R(Q) is used for the damage combo, but R(W) for escaping ganks is equally valuable.
Leblanc's Lane Opponents
Skill Matchup. W out when he ults (his pop appears on your old W location). He wastes R, you turn and combo him.
Easy Lane. He's immobile early. Q him constantly. When he Ults in, W away. He can't touch you.
Hard Counter. Her stun is point-and-click. If she holds stun and flashes on you, you die before you can W.
Beats: Ziggs, Xerath (They can't exist near you). Loses to: Lissandra (R shuts you down), Vex (Anti-dash passive). Skill vs: Zed/Yasuo.
Chain Whiffing
Stop using both W and R-W to engage. If you W in AND R-mimicked-W in, you have NO escapes. Go in with W, combo, return with W. Then you still have R available. Also, stop ignoring the chain. E is your only CC—learn to land it. A landed chain is a guaranteed kill combo.
Stop using both W and RW to engage unless it's a guaranteed kill. If you have no W return, you are a sitting duck. Go in with W, combo, and leave. Use your R for the Q-mimic if you need burst, or E-mimic if you need CC. A missed chain is a missed kill.
When the Burst Isn't Enough
Dodge if facing Galio or Malzahar. Galio is too tanky to burst and his taunt interrupts your combos. Malzahar R suppresses you mid-combo, and his passive blocks your Q poke. Also dodge into Morgana mid—her E blocks your chain root.
Galio and Malzahar are dodge-on-sight. Galio absorbs your combo and taunts you. Malzahar R shuts you down mid-dash. If you're forced into these lanes, roam Bot the second you get Level 6. Don't waste time trying to kill a 3000-MR Galio.
Finding the Backline
Do NOT engage first. Wait for the fight to start. Watch the enemy ADC or mage position. The moment they step forward to do damage, W in, Q-R(Q)-E-Auto, then W back. They are dead or chunked enough that your team cleans up. Your job is to delete one person, not to front line.
You are the queen of the flank. Don't walk through the front line. Use your W to hop over a wall, Q-R-E the carrier, and W back. They should be dead before they can even ping you. If you're fast enough, they won't even see the second W.
The Burst Mage Build
Mejai's Soulstealer rush. LeBlanc is the safest Mejai's holder in the game (W-out is almost always guaranteed). At 25 stacks + Rabadon's, your Q-R(Q) combo one-shots any squishy without even using W for damage.
Mejai's is the only way to play LB. You're the safest stack holder in the game. Rabadon's second or third is mandatory. If they have three tanks, skip the flat pen and go for Void Staff. LB falls off late, so you need the raw numbers to stay relevant.
Timing Leblanc's All-Ins
Level 3, when you have Q, W, and E. Q-W-Auto is half their HP. Level 6, you gain kill pressure on any squishy. Lost Chapter completion gives you mana to spam. Luden's Companion + Shadowflame is your two-item spike where everything dies.
Level 2 Q-W trade chunks 40%. Level 6 is a kill. Luden's Companion completion is your waveclear spike. You need to snowball before everyone buys Maw of Malmortius.
The Clone Juke
Use your clone (from passive) to tank tower shots while you escape. Use the clone to walk toward enemies while you run the other way—they will often attack the clone. Type 'calculated' in all chat after near-death escapes. Style points matter on LeBlanc.
The 'Mirror Image' is your best outplay tool. Control it with Alt-click. Make the clone walk into the enemy while you stand still or walk the other way. 90% of players will dump their Ult on the clone. Type 'Nice Ult' for the maximum tilt.
