Why High-Elo Players Smurf with Morgana
Low Elo players have terrible movement and positioning. They walk in straight lines, making your Q (Dark Binding) impossible to miss. They also do not check for Black Shield (E). You can walk up to a Blitzcrank, press E, and laugh as his hook just bounces off you. Smurfs use this immunity to play aggressively and force fights that the enemy physically cannot win.
The Level 1 Cheese
First Blood Strategy
The 'Invade Root'. Start Q (Dark Binding). Invade the enemy jungle with your team. If you land a Q, the target is stuck for 2 seconds (Level 1 duration). That is a guaranteed First Blood or Flash. In lane, walk at them menacingly. They will weave to dodge Q. Just auto-attack them. When they are locked in an animation, throw Q.
The 'Pay-to-Win' Skin Advantage
'Coven Morgana' is a Legendary masterpiece; the animations are fluid and the Q hitbox looks slightly smaller than it is (pay-to-win). 'Ghost Bride' has the best recall sound (the scream). 'Blackthorn' is the classic reliable skin.
When They Ban Morgana
Backup Pick: If Morgana is banned,
Lux offers a similar 'Binding' playstyle with more burst.
Zyra offers better zone control and disengage.
Neeko offers a similar big AOE ultimate.
Rune Setup
Best Runes: Glacial Augment is currently best for locking down multiple people with R. Arcane Comet is viable for poke damage in Mid/Jungle. Mandatory: Stopwatch (Perfect Timing) because you need Zhonya's. Secondary: Domination (Cheap Shot) or Sorcery.

Order:
Q → E → WQ > E for clear).
Mastering Morgana's Kit
Dark Binding. Fires a bolt of dark energy. Roots the first enemy hit for 2-3 seconds. The hitbox is generous. Aim for the feet!
Tormented Shadow. Creates a pool that deals damage over time. Damage increases based on missing HP. Use this to proc Manaflow Band or finish low HP enemies.
Black Shield. Places a shield on an ally. Absorbs MAGIC damage and prevents DISABLES (CC) until it breaks. It does NOT block Physical damage (
Zed R, ADC autos).
Soul Shackles. Chains nearby enemies. Slows them and deals damage. After 3 seconds, stuns them and deals damage again. Grants movement speed towards enemies.
Matchup Tips
Vs Blitzcrank
Free Win. Stand in front of your ADC. Wait for his hook. Reaction E yourself. He hooks the shield, nothing happens. Emote.
Skill Matchup. Your shield blocks his stun, but he deals Physical damage, so he can burst through it. Be careful.
Vs Conclusion
Morgana is the fallen angel. Bind their bodies, shield their souls from control, and ensure that no one escapes their judgment.
The Ego Check
WARNING: Stop predicting with Black Shield! Use it on REACTION. If you see the
Thresh hook flying, press E. If you shield too early, they break it with magic damage and then CC you. Also, stop throwing Q on cooldown. The THREAT of the Q is scarier than the Q itself. Hold it until you can't miss.
When to Queue Dodge
Dodge Olaf and Gangplank. Olaf's R ignores your CC (Q and R) completely. Gangplank's W cleanses your root instantly. You cannot play the game against them.
Teamfight Role
Flash -> R -> Zhonya's. This is your bread and butter. You dive into 5 people, tether all of them, and go golden. They have to run away (breaking their formation) or stay and get stunned. Meanwhile, your team kills them. Use E on your carry to stop them from getting picked off.
The 'Disrespect' Build
Jungle Morgana. Liandry's Anguish -> Zhonya's -> Rylai's. You clear camps instantly with W (which resets cooldown on ticks). You can literally farm three camps at once. You powerfarm to Level 6 and then gank with R.
Power Windows
Level 6 (Soul Shackles). Stopwatch/Zhonya's Completion. Level 9 (3-Second Root Unlocked).
Tilt Factor
When you hit a max rank Q, type 'AFK Warning: 3 seconds' in all chat. Bind your mastery emote to your Q key. Stand still next to a rooted target and just emote instead of attacking them immediately.
