Champion Stats
Low Elo players barely look at the minimap; they certainly don't count minions. You can disguise as a Melee Minion, walk down the mid-lane with the wave, and they will literally let you walk into melee range. Then you press R. The channel is HIDDEN while you are disguised. They don't react until they are already stunned and dead. Smurfs abuse this lack of awareness to get flanks that are mathematically impossible on any other champion.
The Poke Pattern
The 'Minion Imposter'. Start E (Tangle-Barbs). Disguise as a Caster Minion. Walk to lane with your wave. Stand near the enemy caster minions. When the enemy laner walks up to last hit, un-disguise and E-Auto-Auto-Auto. You get a full root followed by intense W-passive damage (if you took W second) or just auto spacing. It freaks them out.
Your W passive deals bonus damage every 3rd auto. In lane, stack it on minions twice, then auto the enemy champion for a massive burst. Combine it with an E-root for a free half-HP trade.
Neeko's Best Skins
'Street Demons Neeko' has fantastic graffiti effects. 'Shan Hai Scrolls' is beautiful. 'Winter Wonder' is clean. Default Neeko is actually very good because people are used to seeing it.
'Street Demons' has very vibrant effects that can overlap with other abilities in a teamfight. Use the visual chaos to hide your R charge. It's artistic destruction.
'Street Demons' has cool graffiti effects. 'Shan Hai' is artistic. 'Winter Wonder' is distinct. Street Demons is the modern choice.
When They Ban Neeko
If Neeko is banned, Fiddlesticks offers the same 'jumpscare' ultimate playstyle. Kennan offers the big AOE stun teamfight. Lux for the light binding mechanic.
Fiddlesticks if you want the jumpscare ultimate. Kennen if you want the big AOE stun teamfight. Lux if you want the long-range binding. Neeko is the imposter—if she's gone, be the fear or the lightning.
Fiddlesticks for the surprise R. Kennen for the AOE stun. Lux for the root. Fiddlesticks matches the 'surprise party' energy.
Best Runes for Neeko
Electrocute (Burst Trade) or Arcane Comet (Poke). Glacial Augment (Support Utility). Rocketbelt needs Ingenious Hunter? No, Ultimate Hunter is usually better for more plays. Secondary: Inspiration for Hextech Flashtraption (more surprise angles) or Sorcery.
Neeko's Skill Order
Max Q for the waveclear and burst. Max E second for the root duration (up to 3s). W last. (Support Neeko might max E first).
Mastering Neeko's Kit
Blooming Burst. Throws a seed. If it kills a unit or hits a champion/monster, it explodes two more times. Massive damage if they stay in it.
Shapesplitter. Passive: Every 3rd auto deals magic damage and gives haste. Active: Neeko becomes invisible and sends a clone in a target direction. Use this to block skillshots (Hooks, Cait R)!
Pop Blossom. Neeko leaps into the air (shielding herself) and slams down, stunning enemies. If you are disguised, the enemy DOES NOT SEE the warning circle until you land.
Neeko's Best & Worst Matchups
Skill. Your E root goes through his Windwall? No, it's a projectile. But your R GOES THROUGH WINDWALL. Bait the wall with Clone (W), then engage.
Hard. He steals your ult. Don't group up when he has it. Burst him before he can heal.
Skill. Rush Zhonya's. If he ults you, press R immediately. He appears behind you and gets stunned instantly.
Mana Mismanagement
Stop being lazy with your Passive! If you are walking through the jungle, be a Wolf. If you are ganking bot, be a Minion. If you are sitting in a bush, be a Control Ward. If you are just walking around as Neeko, you are playing the champion wrong. You must commit to the bit.
You can transform into a ward or a plant. Disguising as a Blast Cone in the jungle is the ultimate bait. They'll walk up to click you, and then you Pop Blossom. Clip that and put it on YouTube.
When They Outrange You
Dodge Xerath or Vel'Koz. You cannot get close to them. They poke you out of your disguise from a screen away. Also Sylas—he steals your ultimate and uses it better than you (because he has dashes).
Xerath and Vel'Koz are annoying. They'll pop your disguise from distance. Sylas is the real danger—his R steal is too good. If you're against him, try to bait the steal when your R is on cooldown. Otherwise, stay disguised.
Dodge Xerath/Vel'Koz. They poke you out. You can't engage. Sylas steals your R and does it better. Ban Sylas.
The Backline Artillery
Disguise as a minion or raptor. Flank. Press R (Pop Blossom). While R is charging (and you are still disguised), Flash into the enemy team. They see a minion flash at them? Too late. The stun lands. Q the carry. Zhonya's if needed. You are the engage.
Flank as a minion! Flash-R into the team. They won't see the R-charge coming while you're disguised. Land the stun, Q, and Zhonya's. It's the cleanest engage in the game. Make sure your team is ready to follow the 'minion flash'.
The Burst Mage Build
Crit/On-Hit Neeko (Top Lane). Blade of the Ruined King -> Guinsoo's -> Terminus. You bully melee champions with your W passive (Every 3rd auto deals bonus damage and gives speed). You kite them forever.
Hextech Rocketbelt is mandatory for the extra dash into your R. Shadowflame for the damage. If you're feeling spicy, Top Neeko with Bork and Guinsoo's is a classic melee-bullying strat. But for Mid, pure AP is the only way.
Rocketbelt -> Shadowflame -> Zhonya's. Rocketbelt is mandatory to engage. R-Flash mechanic is your bread and butter. One good ult wins the game.
Neeko's Power Spikes
Level 6 (Hidden R mechanic). Hextech Rocketbelt Completion. Level 9 (Max Rank Q clearing waves instantly).
Level 6 with the 'Hidden R' is your first god window. Rocketbelt completion is your engage spike. Level 9 when your Q clears waves instantly allows you to roam as a raptor. Never stay in lane after 15 minutes.
Level 6 R. Rocketbelt completion. Flash cooldown up. You are a summoner spell reliance champ. Fight when Flash is ready.
The Skillshot Snipe
Disguise as a Blast Cone. Wait for the enemy to hit you. You pop out and kill them. Disguise as a Control Ward in the river. When they try to clear you, kill them. Type 'I am everywhere' in all chat.
