Champion Stats
Low elo players have no respect for Renekton's Fury bar. they will walk up to a Renekton with 50+ Fury, not realizing they are about to be hit with an empowered W that deletes half their health bar. They also consistently fail to account for his double-dash (E) range, assuming they are safe under tower. Renekton exploits players who don't understand trade windows, punishing every missed ability with a lethal combo and sustain that makes him impossible to poke out.
The Early Brawl
Renekton's level 1 is about building Fury. Start Q (Cull the Meek). Use it to hit both the minions and the enemy champion simultaneously. This builds Fury quickly and provides sustain. If you hit level 2 first, immediately take W (Ruthless Predator), dash in with 50 Fury, and land the empowered stun. It's often enough to force a Flash or secure a First Blood.
Level 3 is your God-window. E in-W-Q-E out. They can't trade back if they're stunned. If you hit Level 6 under their tower, dive them. You get free HP and damage. It's not a risk, it's a snack.
Skins Worth Buying for Renekton
'Pool Party Renekton' is the ultimate 'smurf' skin—not for the visuals, but for the BM value of the 'lifeguard' recall animation. 'Scorched Earth Renekton' has very clear VFX for his ultimate. 'Project: Renekton' is the most modern and feels incredibly smooth, with a clear indicator for his ultimate's range. Avoid 'Prehistoric' as it feels a bit clunky.
'Project' is the smoothest. 'Scorched Earth' has the best Q visuals. 'Pool Party' is for the BM. Default is for the nostalgia. Whatever you pick, make sure you're the one eating well.
When They Ban Renekton
Pantheon brings point-click stun. Darius brings lane dominance. Kled brings the diving crazy. Pantheon is the best 1-to-1 substitute.
Pantheon for the stun. Darius for the bully. Jax for the scaling. Pantheon is the 'stun and burst' brother.
Renekton's Rune Page
Press the Attack (PTA) is mandatory for the early game burst—it synergizes perfectly with your W. Triumph for the dive-survivability. Legend: Alacrity for faster Fury generation. Secondary Resolve with Bone Plating and Overgrowth to ensure you win every all-in.
What to Max on Renekton
Max Q first for the damage and massive healing—it is your primary lane tool. Max E second for the lower cooldown on your mobility. W is maxed last as it primarily serves as a stun-bot and the base damage is sufficient early.
Mastering Renekton's Kit
Cull the Meek. You swing your blade, dealing damage and healing based on targets hit. Empowered (50 Fury) deals triple damage and heals significantly more. Always try to hit as many units as possible.
Slice and Dice. A dash. If you hit an enemy, you can dash again. The second dash (Dice) reduces armor if empowered. Use this to catch people off guard or to escape after a short trade.
Dominus. You grow in size, gain health, and generate Fury every second. You also deal magic damage to nearby enemies. Use it BEFORE you engage to ensure you have Fury for your combo.
Who Renekton Beats (And Who Beats Renekton)
Easy Lane. Your W breaks his shield, and he can't windwall any of your abilities. You out-stat him early. Just don't let him out-scale you. It's a free win in lane.
Skill Matchup. It's a battle of cooldowns. If you stun her before she can shield your burst, you win. Save your E to dodge her third Q or her R. You are stronger early; she wins late.
Hard Counter. If she lands her E (Spirit Pull), you cannot fight her. You have to dodge the tentacles constantly. Avoid all-ins unless her E is on cooldown.
Brawler's Hubris
Stop staying in lane after 20 minutes if you aren't significantly ahead. Renekton 'falls off' if he doesn't build a massive lead. Your job is to win lane, take the tower, and then force objectives with your ultimate. Also, don't miss your Q! If you use Q and don't hit anything, you lose your primary source of healing mid-fight.
You have a dash (E). Use it to go in, hit your combo, and dash OUT. riven trades are the way you win. Don't just sit there auto-attacking. You're a burst-juggernaut, play like one.
When They Kite You Out
Dodge if facing Quinn or Vayne. Ranged top laners who can knock you back or dash away from your E are your nightmare. Also dodge into heavy-kite compositions where you'll never be able to reach the carries without being CC'd to death.
The Split Decision
In teamfights, you are a backline diver. Activate R (Dominus) early to start building Fury. Use your first E to get near a carry, land an empowered W to lock them down, then Q for damage/healing, and use your second E to either chase or escape. You are a raid boss for the first 25 minutes of the game; use that time to end it.
Flash-W (Empowered) onto the carry deletes them. If you can't reach them, peel with W for your carry. Don't E in without Fury unless desperate.
The Duelist Build
Full Lethality Renekton. Youmuu's -> Opportunity -> Hubris. Your W will literally one-shot squishies. You become an assassin that happens to have 3000 HP when ulting. It's the ultimate 'disrespect' build for stomping lower elo players who think they are safe because they are beneath a turret.
Sundered Sky is the new king for Renekton. The crit-heal on the first auto is exactly what you need for your W-engages. Add a Shojin for the CDR and you'll be dashing every 4 seconds.
When Renekton Hits Hardest
Level 3 is your first massive spike—you have your full combo (E-W-Q-E) and enough Fury to make it lethal. Level 6 turns you into an un-divable monster. Your biggest item spike is your first completed lethality or bruiser item (like Sundered Sky or Eclipse).
Level 1 to Level 11 is your reign. Once they buy 3 armor items, your damage starts to fall. Use your early gold lead to buy Black Cleaver and shred them for your team. You're the vanguard.
The Clutch Duel
Spam the 'Pool Party' recall animation every time you kill the enemy top laner. Tower dive them at 40% HP and walk out with your R-healing. Type 'nice try' after surviving a gank. Nothing tilts a player more than being bullied by a crocodile that seemingly never dies and takes half their HP in one stun.
Your W-reset combined with an empowered Q is enough to delete 40% of anyone's HP bar. Use the 'Pool Party' back-animation to tilt the enemy while they walk back to lane. You're a croc with a plan—eat them.
