Champion Stats
Low elo players don't respect Fizz's untargetability. They throw their primary CC while he's mid-hop, letting him dodge and all-in for free. They also don't understand that a long-range shark landing on a carry is a death sentence. In low elo, players tend to walk in straight lines back to lane, making them prime targets for big sharks from fog of war.
The Playful Start
Start W. Walk into melee range and auto-W the enemy laner when they go for a minion. Your W resets your auto-attack timer and applies bonus magic damage. Auto-W-Auto is a chunky level 1 trade that most mages don't expect from a 'melee assassin'. Repeat until they're in kill range at level 3.
Auto-W-Auto level 1 trade wins lane. Mages hate it. Use the lane priority to get level 2 first, then E-Ignite if they're low. Fizz is a snowball champ—if you don't have a kill by 6, you're doing something wrong.
The Fizz Skin Tier List
'Void Fizz' has the cleanest trident animation and R hitbox visual. 'Fuzz Fizz' is playful but the R shark model is smaller, which can be misleading (good for you). 'Super Galaxy Fizz' has loud SFX that can be distracting for enemies. Avoid 'Cottontail Fizz'—the carrot is visually confusing.
'Void Fizz' or 'Fuzz Fizz' for the deceptive hitbox. 'Super Galaxy' is cool but too loud. Avoid 'Cottontail'—the carrot visual is just distracting. Stick to the skins that make your R shark look like a different animal for the extra confusion factor.
When They Ban Fizz
Ekko is the best 'get in, get out' pivot. Katarina for the resets. If you pick Akali, remember your shroud is your only safety. Stick to Ekko for the similar 'high-mobility dive' gameplay.
Ekko offers similar dive-and-escape playstyle. Katarina provides the reset assassin fantasy. Akali offers the slippery shroud-based gameplay. Ekko is the best 'get out of jail free' pivot.
Runes That Work on Fizz
Electrocute is mandatory—Q-W-Auto procs it instantly for burst trades. Sudden Impact procs on both Q and E (free magic penetration). Eyeball Collection for AP stacking. Ultimate Hunter for lower R cooldown. Secondary Bone Plating + Overgrowth for lane survival, or Triumph + Coup de Grace for all-in kills.
Leveling Fizz's Abilities
Max E first—it's your waveclear, damage, and primary outplay tool. Lowering its cooldown is your first priority for survivability. Max W second for the auto-attack reset and execute damage. Max Q last as it is primarily a gap closer.
Mastering Fizz's Kit
Urchin Strike dashes THROUGH the target, applying on-hit effects. This means Sheen, Lich Bane, and W all proc. It's your gap closer but also your escape—you can Q through enemies or minions to reposition.
Seastone Trident resets your auto-attack timer and empowers your next hit. For maximum burst: Auto -> W (reset) -> Auto. This is two auto-attacks instantly. The active also deals bonus damage if the target is low HP.
Chum the Waters throws a fish that attaches to enemies and summons a shark. The shark size depends on distance traveled—long range = BIG shark = more damage and knockback. Close range fish is smaller. For maximum damage, throw R from max range, then Q in during travel time.
Matchups That Matter for Fizz
Easy Lane. She's immobile. Walk at her level 3, Q-W-Auto, E out before binding lands. Repeat until she dies.
Skill Matchup. His R makes him untargetable too. Save E for when he reappears. Trade R's and see who plays better.
Hard Counter. Her stun is instant and targeted. If she holds stun and flashes on you, you die. Farm with Q, roam when possible.
Trickster Overconfidence
Stop using E to engage. Your E is your ESCAPE. Q -> W -> Auto is your damage combo. E is for dodging the enemy's response or for escaping after the kill. If you E forward to engage, you have no way out and you will die. The only exception is when E is needed to gap close for a guaranteed kill.
Using E to engage is the 'I'm inting' signal. Q in, W auto, then E out or to dodge their CC. Your E is your soul—don't sell it for a 10% HP trade. The only time you E in is for a 100% execute kill with R.
When Assassinating Is Impossible
Dodge if facing Galio or Lissandra. Galio is too tanky to burst and taunts you mid-combo. Lissandra self-ults when you dive, wasting your kill attempt. Also dodge into Malzahar—his passive blocks your R attach, and he suppresses you when you Q in.
Galio and Lissandra will shut you down. Malzahar is equally annoying with the suppression. If you see them, don't even try to win the 1v1. Roam Bot, get the double, and come back to lane with a 1000 gold lead. That's how you outplay them.
Picking Off the Carry
Wait for the fight to start. Watch the enemy ADC or mage position. The moment they use a major ability (Lux R, Jinx W, etc.), Q in, W, and E out. If you landed R on them first, they're dead before they can react. Your job is to delete one carry and survive. Do NOT front line or engage first.
Your R range is huge. Practice the max-range shark snipes from fog of war. If they don't see it coming, they won't have time to use Zhonya's. The surprise shark is the best shark.
The Shark Nuke Build
Lich Bane first item. Your Q applies on-hit effects. Q -> Lich Bane proc -> W enhanced auto chunks for 60% HP at one item. Add Shadowflame and Rabadon's for true one-shot potential. At 3 items, your Q-W alone kills squishies.
Lich Bane is non-negotiable. Without it, you aren't an assassin. Shadowflame into Rabadon's for the true one-shot. If you're ahead, Mejai's is a great buy. Avoid building too much HP—you need the raw AP to scale your R.
Lich Bane first item is non-negotiable. Q applies on-hit effects, so Q-W chunks for 60% HP. Add Shadowflame and Rabadon's for one-shot potential. At 3 items, you don't even need R to kill squishies.
Fizz's Strongest Moments
Level 3 is your first kill window—you have Q, W, E and the burst + escape combo. Level 6 is when Fizz becomes terrifying. R -> wait for fish attach -> Q-W is a full combo that kills anyone under 70% HP. First item completion (Hextech Rocketbelt or Lich Bane) makes you a roaming menace.
Level 3 with the full kit is your first real threat. Level 6 with R is when you control the lane. Once you have Lich Bane, you can one-shot most carries with a Q-W combo. Don't waste your peak by playing safe.
Untargetable Tilting
Kill the enemy mid, then immediately roam bot and kill the ADC. Return mid. Repeat. All-chat 'gg mid diff' after the ADC complains in all-chat. Spam the fish laugh emote (yes, Fizz has one). Nothing tilts harder than dying to a fish pole.
Typing 'Going for a swim?' after escaping with 1 HP is peak Fizz. Spamming the fish laugh emote while sitting on your pole is mandatory. Fizz is designed to be the most annoying thing in the server—lean into it.
