Champion Stats
Low elo players only see 'Aphelios'. They do not see 'Aphelios with Red/White Guns'. This specific combo (Severum Q stacks Crescendum Chakrams) allows you to out-DPS almost any champion in the game at close range, but enemies will still try to 1v1 you. Furthermore, they group up tightly against your Blue Gun (Infernum), allowing for the legendary '200 Years' ultimate that deletes entire teams instantly. A smurf abuses these lack of respect windows to secure free pentakills.
The Weapon Cycle
The 'Calibrum' Poke. Aphelios doesn't have abilities at Level 1, but he has range. Use Calibrum (Green) to auto-attack the enemy whenever they try to CS. It out-ranges most ADCs. If they try to trade back, switch to Severum (Red) immediately to heal up the damage. The cheese is simply having more HP than them at Level 2. Do not fight Draven or Kalista Level 1.
Getting out of a bad weapon combo is your priority. Waste the ammo on a wave or a jungle camp. Never enter a fight with a weapon you can't use effectively. Ammo management is the mark of a Master+ Aphelios.
Ranking Aphelios's Skins
'EDG Aphelios' is the cleanest visual clarity. 'Nightbringer' is edgy and dark. 'Lunar Beast' is a bit cluttered. 'Spirit Blossom' is beautiful but soft sounds.
'EDG' is the pro choice for a reason—the visual clarity on the weapons is the best for both you and your teammates. 'Spirit Blossom' is nice, but it feels a bit too 'soft' during big fights. 'Nightbringer' is the sleeper for the edgelord fantasy.
'EDG Aphelios' has the cleanest visual clarity for weapon queues. 'Nightbringer' is edgy and fits the assassin vibe. 'Lunar Beast' is a bit cluttered but colorful. 'Spirit Blossom' is beautiful to look at but sound effects are soft.
When They Ban Aphelios
Jinx is your pivot for the hyper-carry AOE. Zeri if you want the mobility. If you go for Varus, decide if you're going AP or lethality before you buy your first item. You'll miss the weapon complexity, but at least you'll have buttons.
Jinx offers similar range scaling and rocket AOE. Varus provides poke and versatility. Zeri is the hyper-carry style if you want to run fast. Jinx is the easiest pivot for the 'turret' playstyle.
Aphelios's Keystone Choice
Fleet Footwork (Sustain/Kiting) or Press The Attack (Aggro). Conqueror is good for long fights (Red/White gun). Secondary Sorcery (Gathering Storm) or Domination (Taste of Blood).
Skill Max Order for Aphelios
Leveling stats: AD > Attack Speed > Lethality. (Order: Q -> E -> W usually, or Q -> W -> E depending on patch). Actually, standard is Q (AD) -> E (Lethality) -> W (AS).
Mastering Aphelios's Kit
Weapon Abilty. Changes based on Main Hand gun. Cooldowns are per-gun. Calibrum: Shot. Severum: Flurry. Gravitum: Root. Infernum: Cone. Crescendum: Turret.
Phase. Swaps Main and Off-hand weapon.
Weapon Queue. Shows next gun. (Actually, E levels stats).
Moonlight Vigil. Fires moon bomb. Explodes and applies Main Hand weapon effect (e.g., Heal, AOE, Root, Chakrams).
The Aphelios Matchup Sheet
Hard. Her windwall blocks your ults and Qs. She jumps on you. Exhaust is mandatory.
Skill. He out-damages you early. Do not fight him with bad guns. Sniping with Calibrum is your win con.
Annoying. He opens from stealth. If you react fast with Red/White, you kill him. If not, you die.
Wrong Gun Syndrome
Stop holding onto 'Comfort Guns'! A lot of bad Aphelios players sit on Gravitum (Purple) because it feels safe to have a root. This ruins your rotation. You need to churn through your ammo to get to your power combos (Red/White or Green/Purple). If you enter a teamfight with the wrong guns because you were 'saving' ammo, you deal 50% less damage. Dump your ammo on minions before the dragon fight starts.
The rotation is everything. Severum/Crescendum (Red/White) for the 1v1 melt. Calibrum/Gravitum (Green/Purple) for the long-range pick. If you find yourself with Blue/White during a drake fight, just cry. You've failed the weapon cycle.
When the Lane Is Unplayable
Dodge Samira or Nilalh. They dive you and block your projectiles. You are immobile. You die.
Samira and Nilah are your hard counters because they treat your projectiles like suggestions. If they dash in, you're dead. Respect the windwall/dodge and play for the late-game 3-item spike. Don't try to trade early.
Dodge Samira or Nilah. They dive you and block your projectiles with windwalls/veils. You are immobile and rely on guns; they turn your guns off. It is not playable if the support doesn't save you.
Positioning Is Everything
In teamfights, check your guns. If Blue (Infernum), look for a massive R clump. If White (Crescendum), look to stack chakrams on the frontline then melt them. If Green (Calibrum), poke from safety. You are immobile—positioning is everything. Use Stormrazor (if built) or Flash defensively.
Common mistake is standing too close because you have Severum (Red). You're still an ADC—one CC and you're a grey screen. Use your R (Infernum) to soften them up, then let your team engage before you walk in to clean up with White stacks.
The 200 Years Build
Lethality Aphelios. Collector -> Opportunity -> Edge of Night. Your Green gun Q deals massive damage. Your Blue gun R deletes squishies instantly. True assassin style.
Kraken into IE is the standard for a reason. You need the sustained DPS. Swap Collector in if you're against an all-squishy team and want to see some big numbers on your Blue gun R. Avoid building too much lethality against tanks.
Lethality Aphelios: Collector -> Opportunity -> Edge of Night. Your Green gun Q deals massive damage from screens away. Your Blue gun R deletes squishies instantly. It's the true assassin style for when you trust your aim.
When Aphelios Comes Online
Level 2 (Q unlock). Level 6 (Ult). 3-Item Spike (Infinity Edge). Red/White gun combo availability.
Level 2 is your first window, but it's small. Your real game starts at level 6 with the first weapon rotation. Once you hit 3 items (IE, Lord Dom's, and Kraken), you're the strongest champion in the server. Don't waste it.
Level 2 (Q unlock) gives you actual abilities. Level 6 (Ult) is your teamfight presence. The 3-Item Spike (Infinity Edge) is when you become a god. Red/White gun combo availability is a mini-spike every time it happens.
The Infernum Ult
Type '200 years' after a multi-kill where you just stood still. Switching guns rapidly while standing over a corpse looks cool.
Type 'GG' after a 5-man Blue R. It's the ultimate '200 years' flex. Most players don't understand how your kit works, so use that confusion to your advantage. If they stay grouped, you win.
Type '200 years' after a multi-kill where you just stood still pressing R. Switching guns rapidly while standing over a corpse looks cool. If you land a 5-man Blue Ult, you have legally won the game regardless of the nexus.
