Champion Stats
Low elo players don't respect Veigar's Event Horizon (E). They will walk into the edges or panic inside the cage, leading to an easy W-Q combo. They also fail to close the game out early, allowing Veigar to farm his passive and reach 1000+ AP. A smurf can use the cage to split a team in half or force a FlashEvery single time it's used.
The Cage Trap
Start Q (Baleful Strike). Level 1, your focus is purely on last-hitting two minions with a single Q to double your stacks. Don't waste mana on poke yet. Level 2 with E (Event Horizon) gives you the 'self-peel' you need to survive. Just farm and wait for the enemy to misplay.
E (Event Horizon) is the best non-ultimate CC in the game. It zones entire teams. Catching one person wins the fight. Catching no one still zones them.
Veigar's Best Skins
'Final Boss Veigar' is the legendary smurf skin—the unique voice lines, 'retro-game' theme, and clear visuals are perfect. 'Omega Squad Veigar' offers great modern special ops animations. 'Furyhorn Cosplay Veigar' is a fun, annoying choice. Avoid 'White Mage Veigar' as it's just a basic recolor.
'Final Boss' is a masterpiece. The 'deleted' sounds for your R are peak satisfaction. 'Lumberjack' for the memes. 'Monster Tamer' for the colors. You're a tiny god of evil—look fabulous.
'Final Boss' is the best skin in the game. References, voice lines, visual effects. 'Furyhorn Cosplay' is cute. 'Omega Squad' is tactical. Use Final Boss.
When They Ban Veigar
If Veigar is gone, Viktor is the best 'scaling-control' pivot. If you want more burst, Lux. But nothing replaces the R-one-shot. Accept no substitutes for the master of evil.
Nasus for stacks. Viktor for scaling. Aurelion Sol for the late game god mode. Nasus is the top lane version of 'I will one-shot you later'.
Best Runes for Veigar
Electrocute is the best choice for maximizing your burst if you land a stun. First Strike is an alternative for faster gold scaling in easy matchups. Secondary Inspiration with Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight for cooldowns and cage uptime.
Veigar's Skill Order
Max Q first—it's your primary damage and stacking tool. Max E second for the reduced cooldown and the massive stun duration increase—a rank 5 cage is a death sentence. Max W last as the cooldown decreases based on your stacks regardless of rank.
Mastering Veigar's Kit
Baleful Strike. Veigar fires a bolt of energy that hits the first two enemies. If it kills them, he gains stacks. This is your primary farming and stacking tool.
Dark Matter. Veigar calls down magic from the sky, dealing massive AOE damage after a short delay. The delay decreases based on your stacks. Land a stun first to guarantee this hits!
Event Horizon. Veigar creates a pentagon of energy. Enemies who cross the edge are stunned. This is one of the most powerful zoning and CC tools in the game.
Primordial Burst. Veigar blasts an enemy with magic, dealing massive damage based on their missing health. It's the ultimate point-and-click execute.
Veigar's Best & Worst Matchups
Hard Counter. He can hop over your cage with E (Playful/Trickster) and one-shot you. You have to stay very far back and wait for him to waste his E before you can even think about using your cage.
Hard Counter. She can blink out of your cage with her Shunpo (E). You have to place the cage so she has no blades to jump to, or just play extremely safe under your tower.
Hard Matchup. His Wind Wall (W) blocks your Q and W, and he can dash through your minions to reach you. Wait for his wall to be down and try to trap him in a cage while he's dashing.
Stacking Addiction
Stop wasting your cage! Event Horizon (E) is your only defense and your most powerful tool. If you miss it, you're dead. Also, stack your Q! Every minion you miss with Q is AP you'll never get back. Also, don't ulth someone at full HP—it deals more damage based on MISSING health, so save it for the execute!
Don't ignore the enemy laner entirely. Hitting them with abilities also gives stacks! Use your Q to poke and stack. You're a scaling monster who hates everyone. Lean into the evil.
When They Dive Through Your Zone
Dodge if facing heavy 'hyper-mobility' or 'long-range poke' comps with Katarina, Fizz, or Xerath if your team has no engage. They can blink over your cage or out-range you. Also dodge into Sivir who can spell-shield your ultimate.
Katarina/Zed/Fizz simply ignore your cage. Banshee's is good. Zhonya's is better. Pray your team peels.
Dodge Katarina/Fizz/Zed. Cage does nothing. They blink over it. They kill you. You cry. Just dodge the assassin matchups.
The Combo Window
In teamfights, you are a zone-defense machine. Your most important job is placing the perfect cage (E). Use it to separate the enemy frontline from their backline or to trap multiple people in the center. Follow up with W and Q. Use R (Primordial Burst) to delete any squishy that gets caught or anyone low on HP. You are the master of evil who controls the battlefield with gravity and magic.
E -> W -> Q -> R. If they are squishy, just R. The 'Outplay Button'. Infinite AP scaling means eventually R does 2000 damage.
The Infinite AP Build
Full AP 'Riot Games Balance' Veigar. Luden's Companion -> Seraph's Embrace -> Rabadon's Deathcap. With this build and 20+ minutes of stacking, your Q alone will literally one-shot a squishy carry. It's hilarious to see an ADC try to auto-attack you only to disappear from a single non-ultimate ability. Maximum BM, high-risk.
Rabadon's is mandatory. You can reach 1500 AP in a long game. One Q-W will kill an ADC. Your R is for anyone who survives. You are the scaling king of the mid-lane. Fear the short.
Veigar's Power Spikes
Level 6 is your first execute solo-kill spike. Level 13 (Q and E max) is your peak teamfight spike because the cage is almost always up. Your biggest item spike is reaching Stormsurge (to guarantee the stun) and Rabadon's, which amplifies your passive stacks to insane levels.
Level 6 for the delete-button. 100 stacks. Rabadon's spike. By Level 16, your E is almost permanent. Cage them, nuke them, laugh. The house always wins when Veigar is playing.
Level 6 (Outplay button). Rabadon's Deathcap (The game ends). 1000 AP. Once you hit Deathcap, your R deals 80% HP to squishies.
The Infinite Scaling
Type 'Is that a short joke?!' in all-chat after a one-shot. Spam the 'laugh' emote while someone is trapped in your cage. The sight of a tiny yordle having 1500 AP is a psychological trigger for 'FF at 20'.
Every Q-last hit is a step toward god-hood. Don't waste time—farm! By 25 minutes, you should be a walking nuclear bomb. If they step into your cage, they're already dead. Delete them.
Stacking Q on every minion. Deleting the support with one R. Type 'Skill' in chat. Watching your AP number go up is the only dopamine you need.
