Why High-Elo Players Smurf with Aurelion Sol
Low elo players allow Aurelion Sol to scale for free. They play passive lanes that don't punish his weak early game, and they group up inside his E, giving him free Stardust stacks. By 25 minutes, your E executes minions instantly, allowing you to stall the game indefinitely against sieges. A smurf accelerates this process by taking aggressive W-flight angles to roam bot lane, picking up double kills that shortcut his scaling curve by 10 minutes.
The Level 1 Cheese
First Blood Strategy
The 'E-Stack' Start. Start E (Singularity). Do not interact with the enemy laner. Place E on the caster minions + the enemy champion if they stand in the wave. Your goal is not to kill them; it is to get Stardust. If you can get 2-3 stacks per wave from Level 1, you are winning. If they walk up to trade, tap Q to proc First Strike and back off. You are playing a mini-game called 'Stacking'.
The 'Pay-to-Win' Skin Advantage
'Storm Dragon Aurelion Sol' (Ao Shin) is the best skin. 'Mecha' is clunky. 'Ashen Lord' is fire. Default is majestic.
When They Ban Aurelion Sol
Backup Pick: If Asol is banned,
Veigar for the infinite scaling.
Smolder for the stack mechanic.
Corki for the package roam.
Rune Setup
Best Runes: First Strike (Gold) or Arcane Comet (Poke). First Strike accelerates your items. Minion Dematerializer is good for heavy cannons. Secondary Sorcery (Gathering Storm/Manaflow) is mandatory.
Skill Priority
Order:
Q → E → WMax Q for DPS. Max E second for waveclear/stacks. W last.
Mastering Aurelion Sol's Kit
Breath of Light. Channels dragon fire. Deals DPS + Burst proc. Costs mana/sec. Stardust increases burst % HP damage.
Astral Flight. Fly over terrain. Q has no cooldown and increased damage while flying. Takedowns reset cooldown.
Singularity. Black hole. Damages and drags enemies to center. Executes minions below threshold (based on Stacks). Grants stacks per second/death.
R Falling Star / The Skies Descend
Falling Star / The Skies Descend. R1: Meteor stuns enemies. R2 (Collecting Stardust upgrades it): Massive shockwave knocks up enemies and reaches global map range (shockwave).
Matchup Tips
Nightmare. He dashes your Q. He E's your R. Farm with E from max range.
Hard. Magic shield + blinking. He scales with you but kills you.
Stalemate. Both just waveclear. Boring lane.
The Ego Check
WARNING: Stop flying in a straight line! Astral Flight (W) makes you move in a predictable path. If you W forward into an
Ahri Charm or
Lux Bind, you deserve to die. Only use offensive Flight if their CC is down or if you are cleaning up a fight. Also, don't greed for stacks. Dying to get +3 Stardust from a cannon minion is never worth it. You lose more stacks by being dead and missing waves.
When to Queue Dodge
Dodge Yone or Fizz. They have infinite dashes to get out of your Q/E and stick to you. You can't peel them.
Teamfight Role
In teamfights, lay down E to zone/stack. Charge Q on the frontline (it pierces? No, hits first target but splashes AOE). Use R2 (The Skies Descend) to knock up the entire enemy team. Position cleverly with W to beam them while moving.
The 'Disrespect' Build
Pure AP Asol. Rylai's -> Liandry's -> Void Staff. The slow from Rylai's + Q beam means they can never escape. They just slowly burn to death.
Power Windows
200 Stacks (R2 Unlock?). Rylai's purchase. Level 9 (Q max infinite mana sustain roughly).
Tilt Factor
Type 'Boop' (from old Asol passive, RIP). Dropping a gigantic star (R2) that covers the whole lane is inherently tilting. 'Star Forger' flex.
