Veigar ARAM Build — Infinite Scaling Evil on the Bridge
Veigar in ARAM is a ticking time bomb. Every minion kill and champion takedown gives permanent AP. By 15 minutes you'll have 500+ AP and one-shot squishies. Here's how to stack fast and dominate late game.
Veigar in ARAM is disgusting. His passive (Phenomenal Evil Power) gives him permanent AP for killing minions and champions. In ARAM, minions spawn constantly and teamfights never stop, so you're stacking AP faster than any other mode. By 20 minutes you'll have 600-700 AP and your R will delete anyone below 50% HP.
His win rate in ARAM consistently sits above 53%. The narrow bridge makes his E (Event Horizon) cage almost impossible to escape, and his Q passes through minions to hit champions. He's a scaling monster who only gets stronger.
Best Veigar ARAM Runes
Primary: Domination
Dark Harvest — Veigar already one-shots people. Dark Harvest makes it even more disgusting. You'll stack it fast in constant teamfights, and the bonus damage on low-HP targets synergizes perfectly with your R execute.
Cheap Shot — Your E stuns, which procs Cheap Shot for bonus true damage. Free damage on every cage hit.
Eyeball Collection — Free AP from takedowns. You'll max this out fast.
Ultimate Hunter — Lower R cooldown means more one-shots. Veigar's ult is his identity.
Secondary: Sorcery
Manaflow Band — Veigar is mana-hungry. Manaflow Band gives you permanent mana and mana regen.
Gathering Storm — More free AP over time. Stacks with your passive for absurd late-game scaling.
Why not First Strike? First Strike is fine for gold generation, but Dark Harvest scales harder in ARAM. You're not farming for 30 minutes — you're teamfighting from minute one. Dark Harvest gives you kill pressure that First Strike can't match.
Best Veigar ARAM Items
Core Build (in order)
Luden's Tempest — Burst damage and magic penetration. The proc helps you waveclear and poke. Luden's is better than Everfrost in ARAM because you don't need the extra CC — your E already does that.
Sorcerer's Shoes — Magic penetration boots. More damage on every ability.
Rabadon's Deathcap — Rush this second. Rabadon's amplifies all your stacked AP. If you have 300 AP from stacks, Rabadon's turns it into 435 AP. This is your biggest power spike.
Void Staff — Once the enemy starts building magic resist, Void Staff becomes mandatory. 40% magic penetration makes your burst relevant again.
Situational 5th & 6th Items
Zhonya's Hourglass — If you're getting dove by assassins. Cage them, Zhonya's, watch your team collapse.
Shadowflame — If they're stacking HP but not magic resist. The magic penetration against shields and low-HP targets helps you one-shot.
Banshee's Veil — Against heavy CC comps. The spell shield lets you survive one engage tool.
Morellonomicon — If they have heavy healing. Your Q applies Grievous Wounds to everyone it passes through.
Don't build Everfrost on Veigar in ARAM. Everfrost's active root is redundant — your E already provides massive CC. Luden's gives you more burst damage and waveclear, which is way more valuable in the constant teamfight environment.
Ability Order
Max Q first (Baleful Strike), then W (Dark Matter), then E (Event Horizon). Take R at 6, 11, 16.
Q is your stacking tool and primary poke. Every Q kill on a minion or champion gives you permanent AP. Lower cooldown means more stacks and more poke.
W second for the damage scaling. In ARAM, enemies are grouped, so your W hits multiple targets.
E is one point wonder until last. The stun duration doesn't scale with rank — only the cooldown decreases. Max it last.
ARAM-Specific Tips
Your Q passes through minions after killing them. In ARAM, the minion wave is always between you and the enemy. Use Q to last-hit minions and hit champions behind them. This lets you stack AP and poke at the same time.
Place your E cage behind the enemy team, not on them. Most Veigar players drop cage directly on enemies, who just walk forward out of it. Instead, place the cage behind them so they're trapped between your team and the cage. They either walk into the stun or walk toward your team.
Stack priority: In ARAM, prioritize stacking AP over everything. Use Q on cooldown to last-hit minions. Every minion kill gives 1 AP. Every champion takedown gives 5 AP. By 15 minutes you should have 200+ bonus AP from stacks alone.
R execute threshold: Veigar's R does more damage based on the target's missing HP. Don't use R on full-HP targets — it's a waste. Use it to execute low-HP enemies. The threshold is roughly 30-40% HP depending on your AP.
Cage zoning: Even if you don't stun anyone, your E cage zones a massive area for 3 seconds. Use it to block off the enemy team during tower pushes or to protect your team during retreats.
When Veigar is Strong vs Weak in ARAM
Veigar dominates against immobile comps and squishy teams. If the enemy is all mages and ADCs with no gap closers, your cage will lock them down and your burst will delete them.
He struggles against long-range poke comps (Xerath, Ziggs, Lux) who outrange you and poke you down before you can get in range. He's also weak against hard-engage assassins (Zed, Talon, Fizz) who can dive past your cage and one-shot you.
He's weakest in the first 10 minutes before you have stacks and items. Once you have 200+ AP from stacks and Rabadon's, you're a monster. Once you have Void Staff, you're one-shotting tanks.
