Pyke ARAM Build — Execute Resets and Gold Sharing
Pyke in ARAM is a reset machine. His R executes low HP enemies and resets on kills, giving your entire team bonus gold. Here's how to build him for maximum impact on the Howling Abyss.
Pyke in ARAM is one of the most unique champions in the game. His R (Death from Below) executes enemies below a certain HP threshold and resets on kills. And here's the broken part: when Pyke executes someone with his R, the last ally who assisted also gets full kill gold. This means Pyke can give his entire team 1,000+ bonus gold per game.
His win rate in ARAM sits around 52%, and it's not hard to see why. His Q hook, E stun, and R execute are all perfectly suited for the constant teamfights on the narrow bridge. And his passive (Gift of the Drowned Ones) converts all bonus HP into AD, so you can't build him tanky even if you wanted to.
Best Pyke ARAM Runes
Primary: Domination
Dark Harvest — Pyke stacks this fast because he's constantly getting kills and assists with his R. By 15 minutes you'll have 20+ stacks and your R execute threshold will be massive.
Cheap Shot — Your Q and E both CC, which procs Cheap Shot for bonus true damage. Free damage on every engage.
Eyeball Collection — Free AD from takedowns. You'll max this out fast.
Ultimate Hunter — Lower R cooldown means more executes and more gold for your team. Pyke's ult is his identity.
Secondary: Precision
Triumph — Heals you on kills and assists. In ARAM teamfights, Triumph keeps you alive through resets.
Coup de Grace — More damage to low HP targets. Synergizes perfectly with your R execute.
Why not Hail of Blades? Hail of Blades is fine for burst, but Dark Harvest scales way harder in ARAM. You're not laning, you're teamfighting from minute one. Dark Harvest gives you kill pressure that Hail of Blades can't match once you have 20+ stacks.
Best Pyke ARAM Items
Core Build (in order)
Duskblade of Draktharr — Pyke's core mythic. The invisibility on kill synergizes perfectly with your R resets. Execute someone, go invisible, reposition, execute someone else.
Mobility Boots — Pyke needs movement speed to roam and engage. Mobility Boots give you the speed to flank and hook.
Edge of Night — Spell shield. In ARAM, this lets you engage without getting CC'd instantly. The lethality is also strong.
Serylda's Grudge — Armor penetration and slow. Your Q and E apply the slow, making it easier to land your R.
Situational 5th & 6th Items
Axiom Arc — If you're snowballing hard. Axiom Arc refunds your R cooldown on kills, letting you chain executes faster.
Umbral Glaive — If they have stealth wards or traps. The lethality is also strong.
Guardian Angel — If you keep getting focused after you engage. Dying once and coming back is often enough to win the fight.
Black Cleaver — If they have 2+ tanks stacking armor. The armor shred helps your team.
Don't build HP items on Pyke. Pyke's passive converts all bonus HP into AD. This means HP items like Black Cleaver or Sterak's Gage don't give you any HP — they just give you AD. Build lethality instead.
Ability Order
Max Q first (Bone Skewer), then E (Phantom Undertow), then W (Ghostwater Dive). Take R at 6, 11, 16.
Q is your primary engage and poke tool. Lower cooldown means more hooks. In ARAM, you're constantly looking for hooks.
E second for the stun duration and damage. In ARAM, your E stuns multiple enemies on the narrow bridge.
W is one point wonder until last. The movement speed and camouflage are nice, but the scaling isn't worth maxing over Q or E.
ARAM-Specific Tips
Your R gives your team bonus gold. Pyke's R execute gives the last ally who assisted full kill gold. This is called "Your Cut". In ARAM, this means Pyke can give his entire team 1,000+ bonus gold per game. This is why Pyke is broken in ARAM.
Your R resets on kills. Pyke's R cooldown resets on kills. In ARAM teamfights, one execute turns into a pentakill because you can R someone, reset, R someone else, reset, repeat. This is why Pyke is a reset machine.
Q hook: Pyke's Q is a hook that pulls enemies toward you. In ARAM, the narrow bridge makes hooks easier to land. Use Q to pull priority targets into your team.
E stun: Pyke's E dashes forward and stuns enemies. In ARAM, use E to engage or to stun multiple enemies on the narrow bridge.
R execute threshold: Pyke's R execute threshold scales with lethality. The more lethality you build, the higher the execute threshold. With full build, you can execute enemies at 1,000+ HP.
When Pyke is Strong vs Weak in ARAM
Pyke dominates against squishy, low-HP comps. If the enemy team is 3+ mages or ADCs, your R will execute them constantly. He's also great in teamfights — your R resets give your team massive gold leads.
He struggles against tank-heavy comps. If they have 3+ tanks with 3,000+ HP, your R execute threshold won't be high enough to execute them. He's also weak against heavy CC comps (Leona, Nautilus, Lissandra) who can CC you before you can engage.
He's weakest in the first 10 minutes before Duskblade and Edge of Night. Once you have both items, you're a monster. Once you have Serylda's, you're executing everyone.
