Thresh ARAM Build

Thresh ARAM build guide

Thresh in ARAM is a playmaker. Land one hook on their carry and the fight's over. He's got engage, peel, and utility all in one kit. The narrow lane makes hooks easier to land, and constant teamfights mean you're always relevant. If you can hit Q, you'll hard carry.

Your passive stacks souls for free armor and AP. In ARAM, souls drop constantly from minions and champions. By 15 minutes you're tanky as hell just from passive stacks.

Best Runes for Thresh ARAM

Primary (Resolve):

  • Aftershock — tankiness after landing hook
  • Font of Life — heal allies when you CC enemies
  • Conditioning — bonus resistances at 12 minutes
  • Overgrowth — stacks HP from nearby minion deaths

Secondary (Inspiration):

  • Biscuit Delivery — sustain in lane
  • Cosmic Insight — more ability haste and summoner spell haste

Stat Shards: Ability Haste, Armor, Health

Aftershock makes you unkillable after landing Q. You hook in, proc Aftershock, and tank everything while your team follows up.

Core Items

Full Build Path: Zeke's Convergence → Mobility Boots → Locket of the Iron Solari → Knight's Vow → Frozen Heart → Thornmail

You're building full tank support. Your job is to land hooks and keep your carries alive. Damage is not your problem.

Situational Items

  • Mikael's Blessing — if they have one key CC you need to cleanse (Malzahar R, Mordekaiser R)
  • Redemption — if your team needs more healing
  • Randuin's Omen — if they have crit-heavy ADCs
  • Abyssal Mask — if they're full AP

Ability Priority

Max Order: Q → E → W

Your Q is your engage tool. Max it first for lower cooldown. E second for more peel. W last since it's mainly for the shield, not damage.

How to Play Thresh in ARAM

Thresh has two jobs: engage and peel. Before fights, you're fishing for hooks. During fights, you're peeling for your carries with E and R.

Hook Combos:

  • Basic Engage: Q (hook) → Q2 (dash) → E (flay back) → R (box)
  • Peel: E (flay away) → R (box) → Q (hook if they're still chasing)
  • Lantern Save: W behind your carry → they click it to escape

Your Q is a two-part ability. First cast hooks. Second cast dashes you to the target. You don't have to take the dash — sometimes it's better to stay back and let your team follow up.

ARAM-Specific Tips

Hook from bushes. They can't see it coming. Stand in bush, throw Q, free kill.

Flay interrupts dashes. Your E stops Tristana W, Leona E, Lee Sin Q2, etc. Time it right and you shut down their engage.

Lantern your carries. Drop W on your ADC or mage before fights. If they get dove, they click it and escape. Free peel.

Box zones fights. Your R creates a box that slows enemies who walk through it. Use it to cut off their backline or protect yours.

Don't always take Q2. If you hook their tank, don't dash in. Let your team kill them from range. Only dash in if you hook a priority target.

Thresh's Worst Matchups in ARAM

  • Poke comps — Xerath, Ziggs, Vel'Koz. They chunk you before you can engage.
  • Morgana — Her E blocks your Q. Annoying.
  • Ezreal — E dodges your Q. Hard to catch.

Thresh's Best Matchups in ARAM

  • Immobile carries — Lux, Veigar, Ashe. Easy hook targets.
  • Melee-heavy comps — Your E and R peel them off your carries.
  • Dive comps — Lantern saves your team from their engage.
