Champion Stats
Low elo players have a bad habit of hugging walls for 'safety'. Against Taliyah, walls are death traps that grant her passive movement speed and easy angles for her W-E combo. They also disrespect the minefield (E)—enemies will often dash through it, stunning themselves and taking massive damage. A smurf abuses this lack of discipline by cutting the map in half with R, isolating the enemy carry from their support, and creating unfair fights all over the map.
The Zoning Play
The 'Worked Ground' Push Strategy. Start Q (Threaded Volley). Use your Worked Ground efficiently: Cast Q -> Move to fresh ground -> Cast Q again. The single-rock throw from Worked Ground costs almost no mana and refunds mana, allowing you to poke and shove indefinitely. You can usually clear the first wave before the enemy has killed three minions. Use this priority to ward the enemy raptors or harass them under tower immediately.
Your E 'Unraveled Earth' stops ALL dashes. In a meta of mobile assassins, you are the queen. Place it down and watch the Yasuo cry. Your W 'Seismic Shove' is for the fling. Combo them. Rock and roll.
Which Taliyah Skin to Use
'SSG Taliyah' is the cleanest. 'Pool Party' has nice water effects. 'Star Guardian' is bright and pink. 'Freljord' creates ice walls.
'SSG' has the best sounds. 'Star Guardian' for the magical girl vibes. 'Pool Party' for the surf. 'Coven' for the dark rocks. Taliyah is about the terrain—pick the one that shapes the rift best.
'SSG Taliyah' is the best. Blue and white, clean sounds. 'Star Guardian' is pink/good. 'Pool Party' is fun. SSG feels the sharpest.
When They Ban Taliyah
If Taliyah is banned, Twisted Fate for the global roam. Aurelion Sol for the flight. Syndra for the burst/control.
Twisted Fate roams. Aurelion Sol flies. Galio flies. TF matches the macro pressure.
Twisted Fate for the roam. Aurelion Sol for the flight. Galio for the map presence. TF matches the global pressure playstyle.
Optimal Runes for Taliyah
Dark Harvest (Jungle) or First Strike (Mid/Jungle). Phase Rush is good for safety. Secondary Inspiration or Sorcery (Waterwalking).
Taliyah's Ability Priority
Max Q for DPS. Max E second for the mine damage/slow. W last (utility).
Mastering Taliyah's Kit
Threaded Volley. Throws 5 rocks (AOE). Creates Worked Ground. On Worked Ground, throws 1 big rock (Slows/Refunds Mana).
Seismic Shove. Knocks enemies in a direction after delay. Combo into E for detonation.
Unraveled Earth. Minefield. Slows. Enemies dashing over it take damage/stun. W pushes them over it.
Weaver's Wall. Creates a massive wall. Recast to ride it. taking damage drops you. Splits the map.
Taliyah's Lane Opponents
Nightmare. She blinks over your E. She bursts you. Ban her.
Skill. Your E stops his dashing (if he dashes). He sends windwall to block Q. Play around E.
Hard. He steals your wall (useless for him usually). He dashes on you. Use E defensively.
Katarina blinks. Zed blinks. Fizz dashes. Assassins are hard. Save W to peel yourself. Push and roam.
Vs Katarina: Impossible. She blinks your E. Ban her. Vs Yasuo: Skill. E stops dashes. Windwall blocks Q. Vs Zed: Rush Zhonya's.
Cooldown Disrespect
Stop casting W randomly! Seismic Shove is one of the hardest skillshots to land raw. You look like a fool when you miss it. Always wait for them to be slowed by your Q, or wait for an ally to CC them first. If you must cast it raw, predict their movement—panic sidesteps are common. Also, respect your Worked Ground. If you are standing on it, you lose 80% of your DPS. In an all-in, you MUST dance between fresh ground patches to keep your damage output high.
When They Outrange You
Dodge Katarina or Zed. Blinks bypass your E/Wall. They jump on you and you die. Also Olaf ignores your CC.
Xerath and Lux are annoying. Roam to bot lane where your wall can secure kills. Don't play their game; play yours. You're faster with your passive—use the walls to your advantage.
Dodge Xerath/Vel'Koz. You can't reach them. Also Katarina/Zed/Fizz. Assassins who ignore your E are a nightmare. Dodge them.
The Backline Artillery
In teamfights, you are a zone controller. Lay down E to stop dashes (crucial vs Yasuo/Irelia). Use Q to shred the frontline. Save W to peel yourself or fling a carry into your E. R is for cutting off escape routes or joining the fight late.
E field stops dashes. Irelia dashes through it? Stunned. Yasuo E? Stunned. Place E between your team and them.
Q spam on the tank. E to zone the assassins. W to peel or catch. R to cut the team in half. You control the terrain.
The Poke Build
Luden's -> Shadowflame -> Stormsurge. Pure flat penetration. One W-E combo deletes a squishy instantly.
Archangel's and Liandry's. You need the mana to spam Q. Add a Rylai's for the perma-slow. You're a battle-mage who doesn't stop throwing rocks. By level 9, your Q clear is insane. roam and win.
Luden's -> Shadowflame -> Rabadon's. One W-E combo deletes a squishy. Q dps melts tanks. You are a burst-DPS hybrid.
Timing Taliyah's All-Ins
Level 3 (Gank potential). Level 6 (Global roam). Level 9 (Q max allows insane kiting).
Level 3 W-E combo. It one-shots waves and chunks champs. Use it to shove and move.
Level 3 W-E combo. Level 6 Roam. Luden's Spike. You win by shoving mid and killing bot lane. Be everywhere.
The Cross-Map Play
Type 'Wall hacks' after a perfect R that traps them all. Hitting them with rocks feels bad. Spamming 'Throw another rock' voice line.
Your R 'Weaver's Wall' is for the rotation. Cut off the map. Trap them in the dragon pit. Your Q2 (on worked ground) is a massive rock that slows. Use it to kite forever. You're a stone-weaver—craft their defeat.
Surfing on your wall to bot lane. Cutting off their escape. Double kill. Type 'Surf's up' in chat. Map control is key.
