The Level 1 Trade

First Blood Strategy

The 'Cultivation' Trade. Start Q (Darkin Glaive). Walk up to the enemy laner. Auto -> Q -> Auto -> Q (Recast). The recast knocks them up and heals you. You deal massive burst damage and crowd control them. If they fight back, your passive stacks 'Determination'. If you hit full stacks, you win any all-in.

Zaahen's Best Skins

'Blood Moon Zaahen' is the best. The dark red aesthetic fits his revive theme (rising from blood). 'Mecha Kingdoms Zaahen' is clunky; the glaive animations feel too heavy.

'Blood Moon' is the only way to play. The red particles for your 'Cultivation' look incredible. 'Mecha' for the heavy-hitters. Zaahen is a warrior of the glaive—pick the one that feels the sharpost. Slice and dice.

'Blood Moon' fits the revive theme perfectly. Red particles are crisp. 'Mecha' is clunky. Blood Moon is the pay-to-win choice for visual clarity.

When They Ban Zaahen

Backup Picks

If Zaahen is banned, Aatrox is the literal blueprint for this playstyle. Briar offers similar 'uncontrollable diving' energy.

If Zaahen is gone, Aatrox is the closest 'drain-tank-revive' alternative (RIP the old Aatrox revive though). If you want more dash, Briar. But nothing matches the glaive. The hunt continues.

Aatrox for the drain tank. Briar for the dive. Viego for the resets. Aatrox matches the 'I heal more than you deal' energy.

Best Runes for Zaahen

Best Runes

Conqueror. You want prolonged fights to stack your Passive. Last Stand is incredible because you fight effectively while dying (and reviving). Revitalize (Secondary Resolve) creates those 'how is he not dead?!' moments. Ghost/Teleport is the play; you need to stick to targets.

Zaahen's Skill Order

Q W E

Max Q for the damage/healing/knockup. W (Dreaded Return) is a pull, max second for the cooldown. E is a dash, one point wonder.

Mastering Zaahen's Kit

Q
The Darkin Glaive

Darkin Glaive. Two casts. First swipe, Second knockup. Heals you.

W
Dreaded Return

Dreaded Return. Stabs and PULLS enemies. Use to catch runners.

E
Aureate Rush

Aureate Rush. Dash + AoE sweep. Use to dodge spells or engage.

R
Grim Deliverance

Grim Deliverance. Flight + Slam. Heals based on dmg. Use to start fights.

Zaahen's Best & Worst Matchups

Vs Darius Skill

Skill matchup. If you Q-Knockup him during his Q swing, you deny his heal. If you miss, you die.

Vs Riven Hard

Hard. She can dodge your Qs easily. Wait for her to waste spells.

Vs Nasus Skill

Bully him early. If you let him stack, he just bonks you twice after you revive.

The Overextend Trap

WARNING

Your passive has a cooldown. If you fight without it, you are just a guy with a stick. Track your 'Cultivation' bar. Also, don't revive 1v5. You will just die again immediately. Revive is for turning close fights, not for inting.

Your passive revive is a bait. Use it to force the enemy to stay in a fight they've already won. When you rise, you strike! You're a duelist who doesn't know when to quit. Fate is yours.

Don't fight without Passive. You aren't a champion without it. You're a minion. Ping your passive cooldown. Force your team to wait.

When They Kite You Out

Dodge Fiora. She parries your Q knockup and shreds your extra health bars. Dodge Kled. His healing reduction is built-in and makes your life hard.

The Split Decision

Flank. Use E (Aureate Rush) to dash in, then R (Grim Deliverance) to fly up and slam down on the enemy carry. This causes chaos. Focus the ADC. If they focus you, good. You revive. If they ignore you, you kill their carry. It's a win-win situation.

Flank with E-dash. Your R 'Grim Deliverance' is the game-changer. Slam the backline and watch them panic. You're a disruption assassin. If they kill you, you come back. It's the ultimate 'lose-lose' for the enemy. Rule the rift.

The Bruiser Build

Eclipse -> Sundered Sky -> Sterak's Gage. The 'Shield & Heal' build. You have so many health bars it's unfair. Sundered Sky crits on your Q are disgusting.

Eclipse and Sundered Sky. You want the burst and the sustain. Add a Sterak's for the 'third health bar'. You're the hardest champion to truly kill. Shred their armor and take their souls. The glaive is hungry.

Eclipse -> Sundered Sky -> Sterak's. Shield -> Heal -> Shield. You have 3 health bars. The enemy has depression. Outlast them.

Zaahen's Power Spikes

Level 3 (Full combo access). Level 6 (Grim Deliverance dive). Passive Ready (Revive available).

Level 3 for the dash-combo. Level 6 for the R-dive. Passive-ready window. By mid-game, you should be the king of the side-lane. If they don't send two, you take the tower.

Level 3 all-in. Level 6 dive. Passive up. If your passive is down, you are weak. If it's up, you are a god. Play around it.

The 1v3 Outplay

Binding your mastery emote to your Passive Revive animation. So when you are resurrecting, you flash Mastery 7. It tilts them to oblivion.
