The Lane Poke Pattern

First Blood Strategy

The 'Unleashed' Start. Start Q (Cultivation of Spirit). It has a passive stacking mechanic. Hit the melee minions 3 times to fully stack it. When the enemy ADC tries to last hit, activate Q. It grants attack speed and makes your autos splash. You win the trade instantly because you have an AoE attack speed steroid at level 1 while they have nothing.

Your Q 'Cultivation' is your life blood. Stack it on minions, then hit the enemy. The splash damage is importantly a free Luden's proc at level 1. You're a high-speed marksman; use your W speed to weave in and out of their range. Flow like the wind.

Skins Worth Buying for Yunara

'Spirit Blossom Yunara' is mandatory. The visual clarity on her Q stacks is superior, with the petals glowing distinctly when you are fully stacked. 'Project: Yunara' feels heavy and makes the rhythm of kiting feels clunky. Stick to the flow of Spirit Blossom.

'Spirit Blossom' has the best sounds. 'Project' is okay. Default is fine. Spirit Blossom wins.

'Spirit Blossom' is the best. The petals on Q stack are clear. 'Project' is clunky and feels heavy. Stick to Spirit Blossom for the smooth animations and satisfying sound effects.

When They Ban Yunara

Backup Picks

If Yunara is banned, Zeri is the closest 'speedster' ADC. Sivir offers similar 'run fast and kite' energy.

Zeri for the speed. Sivir for the bouncing. Zeri is the better zoom-zoom replacement.

Zeri for the speed. Sivir for the waveclear. Kai'Sa for the dive. Zeri is the spiritual successor of 'I run fast and shoot things'.

Yunara's Rune Page

Best Runes

Press the Attack or Lethal Tempo (if available). The key is Attack Speed. Secondary Tree? Nimbus Cloak and Celerity. You want to maximize your E movement speed. If you are fast enough, you don't need defensive runes.

What to Max on Yunara

Q W E

Max Q for the waveclear and damage output. Max W (Arc of Judgment) second for the slow strength, which helps you kite. E is a utility speed boost; max it last.

Mastering Yunara's Kit

Q
Cultivation of Spirit

Cultivation of Spirit. Stack it on minions! Don't fight without stacks. Active gives splashing autos.

R
Transcend One's Self

Transcend One's Self. The Super Saiyan mode. Upgrades all abilities. Pop this immediately in a fight.

Who Yunara Beats (And Who Beats Yunara)

Vs Draven Skill

Hard. He out-trades you early. Farm with Q splash damage and wait for scaling.

Vs Caitlyn Hard

Annoying. She out-ranges you. Use your speed to dodge her Q and wait for an all-in.

Vs Ezreal Hard

Free lane. You are fast enough to dodge every single Q he throws. He will run out of mana trying to hit you.

Draven axes hurt. Caitlyn range hurts. Vayne scales. You beat skillshot champs by running fast.

Beats: Immobile tanks (Sion/Ornn). Loses to: Point-click CC (Vi/Nautilus). Skill: Other hypercarries (Jinx/Twitch). You out-kite tanks, but die to lockdown.

Kiting Laziness

WARNING

You are squishy. Extremely squishy. If a Nautilus hooks you, you are dead. You do not have a dash or a blink. You have SPEED. If you stop moving, you die. You must have APM (Actions Per Minute). If you can't kite at 2.5 Attack Speed, play Ashe.

When You Can't Auto Safely

Dodge Nautilus and Vi. Point-and-click CC is your only weakness. You can't outrun a targeted ultimate.

Point-and-click CC is the enemy. Vi R and Nautilus R are your counters. Stay back until they use them. Your Q-splash range is huge—use it to poke from safety. One stack at a time. Win.

Dodge Vi/Nautilus/Lissandra. If they press R, you die. You rely on movement speed. Targeted CC ignores movement speed. You can't play the game.

The DPS Check

Pop Ghost. Pop E. Activate R (Transcend). You are now a racecar. Run front-to-back. Hit the tank. Your passive turns your crits into magic damage, so you will melt the Malphite even if he stacks Armor. Save your W slow for when the bruiser tries to run at you. Never stop moving.

In teamfights, you're a racecar. Activate R and Ghost. You can outrun almost anything. Hit the nearest target and let the splash damage do the work. You deal mixed damage, making you impossible to itemize against. You're the ultimate kite-god.

The DPS Build

Blade of the Ruined King -> Guinsoo's Rageblade -> Nashor's Tooth. The 'Purple Damage' build. You do every type of damage in the game. It creates a 'Death Recap' that looks like a rainbow. It's incredibly tilting.

Blade of the Ruined King into Guinsoo's. You're an on-hit machine. Add a Runaan's for the triple-splash madness. You'll clear whole waves and teams in seconds. It's a rainbow of damage. Rat-tat-tat! Win.

BORK -> Guinsoo's -> Terminus. On-hit shred. You deal physical, magic, and true damage. Tanks can't build against you. Rainbow damage numbers are beautiful.

When Yunara Hits Hardest

Level 1 (Stacked Q Cheese). Level 6 (Transcendence Steroid). 3 Items (Mixed Damage Spike).

Level 6 ult steroid. 2 Items. You are a teamfight hypercarry.

Level 6 (Steroid). 2 Items (Guinsoo Spike). Late game teamfights where you can stack safely. If you get 6 stacks, you win the fight.

The Cleanup Ace

Running circles around a melee champion while spamming the 'Laugh' emote. They literally cannot touch you. Typing 'Too slow!' in all chat after kiting a Darius.
