Master Yi ARAM Build — Right Click to Pentakill
Master Yi in ARAM is a reset machine. His R gives him movement speed and attack speed, and resets on kills. Here's how to build him for maximum DPS on the Howling Abyss.
Master Yi in ARAM is the definition of a stat-check champion. If you're ahead, you right-click the enemy team to death. If you're behind, you die instantly. There's no in-between. His Q (Alpha Strike) makes him untargetable, his W heals him, and his R (Highlander) gives him movement speed, attack speed, and resets on kills.
His win rate in ARAM sits around 51%, which is solid for a champion that requires zero mechanics. The key is knowing when to Q to dodge abilities and when to R to clean up fights. If you engage first, you'll die. If you wait for your team to engage and clean up, you'll pentakill.
Best Master Yi ARAM Runes
Primary: Domination
Dark Harvest — Master Yi stacks this fast because he's constantly getting kills and assists. By 15 minutes you'll have 20+ stacks and your auto attacks will chunk squishies.
Sudden Impact — Your Q dash procs Sudden Impact for bonus lethality. Free damage on every Q.
Eyeball Collection — Free AD from takedowns. You'll max this out fast.
Treasure Hunter — Extra gold on unique kills. ARAM games are shorter, so the early gold spike helps you hit your 2-item power spike faster.
Secondary: Precision
Legend: Alacrity — Attack speed. Master Yi scales with attack speed.
Coup de Grace — More damage to low HP targets. Synergizes with your cleanup playstyle.
Why not Conqueror? Conqueror is Master Yi's go-to in ranked, but ARAM doesn't need the sustained damage. Dark Harvest gives you way more burst damage for cleanup. You're not dueling — you're waiting for your team to engage, then right-clicking everyone to death.
Best Master Yi ARAM Items
Core Build (in order)
Kraken Slayer — Master Yi's core mythic. The true damage on every third auto attack shreds tanks and squishies.
Berserker's Greaves — Attack speed boots. Master Yi scales with attack speed.
Blade of the Ruined King — On-hit damage and lifesteal. The % HP damage shreds tanks.
Wit's End — On-hit damage and magic resist. You'll be unkillable against AP comps.
Situational 5th & 6th Items
Guardian Angel — If you keep getting focused in teamfights. Dying once and coming back is often enough to win the fight.
Death's Dance — If they have heavy burst damage. The damage delay keeps you alive longer.
Bloodthirster — If you want more lifesteal. The shield helps you survive burst.
Lord Dominik's Regards — If they have 2+ tanks stacking armor.
Don't build lethality Master Yi in ARAM. Lethality Yi is a meme build. On-hit Yi with Kraken Slayer and BotRK gives you way more consistent DPS. Stick to the on-hit build.
Ability Order
Max Q first (Alpha Strike), then E (Wuju Style), then W (Meditate). Take R at 6, 11, 16.
Q is your primary damage and dodge tool. Lower cooldown means more Q dodges. In ARAM, you're using Q to dodge abilities and deal AOE damage.
E second for the true damage. In ARAM, your E true damage shreds tanks.
W is one point wonder until last. The heal is nice, but you're not standing still to channel W in teamfights. Max it last.
ARAM-Specific Tips
Your Q makes you untargetable. Master Yi's Q (Alpha Strike) makes him untargetable for 1 second. In ARAM teamfights, use Q to dodge abilities (Karthus R, Zed R, Syndra R). Time your Q right and you'll dodge everything.
Your R resets on kills and assists. Master Yi's R (Highlander) cooldown resets on kills and assists. In ARAM teamfights, one kill turns into a pentakill because you can R, kill someone, R resets, kill someone else, repeat. This is why Master Yi is a cleanup machine.
Q timing: Don't Q randomly. Wait for the enemy to use their big abilities (Karthus R, Zed R, Syndra R), then Q to dodge them. A well-timed Q can save your life.
R timing: Don't R first. Wait for your team to engage, wait for the enemy to use their CC, then R and clean up. If you R first, you'll get CC'd and die instantly.
W heal: Master Yi's W heals him and reduces damage taken. In ARAM, use W when you're low HP and out of combat. Don't W in the middle of teamfights — you'll get CC'd and die.
When Master Yi is Strong vs Weak in ARAM
Master Yi dominates against squishy, low-CC comps. If the enemy team is 3+ mages or ADCs with no hard CC, you're going to have a great game. Your R resets will carry teamfights.
He struggles against heavy CC comps. If they have Leona, Nautilus, and Lissandra, you're going to get CC'd every time you engage. He's also weak against heavy poke comps (Xerath, Ziggs, Lux) who can poke you down before you can engage.
He's weakest in the first 10 minutes before Kraken Slayer and BotRK. Once you have both items, you're a monster. Once you have Wit's End, you're unkillable.
