Champion Stats
Low elo players fundamentally do not disengage when Taric casts his ultimate. They see the golden sparkles falling from the sky and keep fighting, wasting every cooldown on invulnerable targets while their own abilities go on cooldown. By the time the invulnerability ends, your team has killed half of them. They also don't respect Taric's E (Dazzle) angles—the stun casts from BOTH Taric AND his tethered ally, meaning you can stun the enemy backline from completely unexpected angles. A smurf abuses this by tethering to a diver and stunning carries from screens away while being completely safe.
The Poke or Engage
Start E (Dazzle). Hide in the lane brush. When the enemy walks up to the wave, walk forward and stun them. The key is your passive (Bravado): after casting any spell, your next two auto-attacks deal bonus damage and reduce your basic ability cooldowns. So the pattern is: E (stun) > Auto > Auto (passive used) > E comes back faster > Auto > Auto. Taric's Level 1 dueling is possibly the strongest in the entire support pool because he can chain stuns and auto-attacks infinitely. You can legitimately beat most ADCs 1v1 at Level 1 if they try to fight you.
Which Taric Skin to Use
'Armor of the Fifth Age Taric' (Pink Taric) is the only skin. Just kidding, 'Luminshield' is cool too. But Pink Taric with the deep V-neck is the smurf uniform.
'Armor of the Fifth Age' (Pink) is the only real choice. It's a statement. 'Luminshield' for the high-fantasy feel. 'Bloodstone' for the dark vibes. Taric is the king of style—embrace the sparkle.
'Armor of the Fifth Age' (Pink Taric). There are no other skins. The furry boots. The deep V-neck. It tilts the enemy by existing. Use it.
When They Ban Taric
Braum blocks. Rakan charms. Renata revives. Braum is the defensive wall you want.
Braum for the wall. Rakan for the charm. Renata for the save. Braum is the best defensive alternative.
Optimal Runes for Taric
Glacial Augment (Control) or Guardian (Tank). Presence of Mind (Precision secondary) is MANDATORY because you run out of mana. Manflow Band works too.
Taric's Ability Priority
Q (2 points) > E Max. You need points in a spell to maximize passive resets.
Mastering Taric's Kit
Starlight's Touch. Heals allies. Uses charges. Autos recharge it. Spam this in fights.
Bastion. Passively increases Armor. Active: Shields ally and Tethers to them. Taric's spells cast from BOTH him and his tethered ally.
Dazzle. Beam stun. Fires from Taric AND Tethered Ally. Aim it carefully!
Cosmic Radiance. After 2.5s delay, makes all nearby allies Invulnerable for 2.5s. Game winning button.
Taric's Lane Opponents
Synergy. Pick Taric WITH Yi. The Yi-Taric funnel is legendary.
Hard. Black Shield stops stun. She binds you. You struggle.
Annoying. Plants block pathing. Poke hurts. All-in her at 6.
Vs Leona: Easy matchup. You out-scale and out-sustain her. Just stun her ADC when she engages. Vs Zyra: rough poke battle. You have to wait for her to overextend. Be patient and wait for the gems to shine.
Vs Morgana: Hard. Black Shield stops stun. Vs Zyra: Poke hell. Vs Engage (Naut/Leona): Easy. You win the all-in.
Peel Laziness
Stop wasting mana! Taric is one of the most mana-hungry supports in the game. Spamming Q (Starlight's Touch) with only 1 charge drains your mana pool instantly for almost no healing value. Only use Q when you have 2+ charges or when your passive is ready to reset cooldowns with auto-attacks. Save your mana for E (stun) and R (ultimate) which actually win fights. Also, TIME YOUR ULTIMATE PROPERLY. Cosmic Radiance has a 2.5-second delay before the invulnerability applies. You need to cast it BEFORE the damage hits, not during. If you wait until your carry is at 10% HP, the ultimate will finish channeling after they're already dead.
When Your ADC Is Doomed
Dodge Vel'Koz or Xerath. Poke mages ruin you. You can't heal through poke mana-efficiently, and you can't reach them to stun.
Poke mages (Lux/Xerath) ruin Taric. You have no gap close. Flash-E is your only hope. If Flash is down, you are a spectator.
Dodge heavy poke (Xerath/Vel'Koz). You can't touch them. You just get poked out. It's miserable. Don't play Taric here.
Peel or Engage?
In teamfights, W your engager (Hecarim/Yi/Malphite). When they go in, cast E to stun through them. Press R as the fight starts to time the invulnerability for the clash. Spam Q-Auto-Auto-W-Auto-Auto to reset cooldowns and heal everyone.
Taric is both. Link with the carry to peel, or the engager to stun. Your R 'Cosmic Radiance' has a delay—time it for the moment the fight starts. Invulnerability wins games.
E stun off your diver teammate. R for invulnerability as the fight starts. Auto-attack to reset Q heals. You are a paladin. Do it all.
The Vision Control Build
Jungle Taric. Ghost + PTA. You run at them, stun them, and beat them down with infinite attack speed resets. Surprisingly effective duelist.
Locket and Knight's Vow into Winter's Approach. You need the mana to spam your Q-auto reset. You are a healing-stun-tank machine. By level 11, you're the backbone of the team. Gems are truly, truly outrageous.
Locket -> Winter's Approach -> Knight's Vow. Infinite mana = Infinite heals. You are a tanky healer. Stay alive and keep spamming Q.
Timing Taric's All-Ins
Level 6 (Invulnerability). Tear of the Goddess (Mana fix). Late game (Unkillable team).
Level 6 is your entry into god-hood. By level 16, your R cooldown is low enough to win every fight. If you have mana, no one dies. Just don't get poked out. Stay close to your allies. The gems are with you.
Level 6 Invulnerability. 2-Item Spike. Late Game. Your R wins teamfights automatically if timed right. Communication is key.
The Roam That Won Mid
Spam jokes about 'Gems'. The Pink Taric skin tilts homophobic players (sadly true) or just looks ridiculous while beating them down.
Your E 'Dazzle' can be cast from an ally. Link with your jungler and stun from fog. It's the most tilting engage in the game. You're a gem-knight; shine bright and stun hard. Truly outrageous gameplay. be fabulous.
Linking W to your jungler. Stun from fog of war. They never see it coming. Flash-E for the guarantee. Shining bright.
