The short version
I put the same OCE account through every tool that calls itself an MMR checker. OP.GG deleted their MMR feature years ago and never told anyone. Most of the top Google results are smurf shops. WhatIsMyMMR still works and is still free. And exactly one of them tries to answer the question you actually typed it in to ask.
Here's how this usually goes. You lose four in a row, you get +14 for a win and -24 for a loss, and you start to suspect the game is doing something to you. So you google "mmr checker", click the first result, type in your Riot ID, and get back a page that says you're Gold 2 with a 49% winrate.
You knew that. You've known that for six weeks. That's why you were googling at 1am.
I run an MMR checker myself, so yes, I have a horse in this race and you should read everything below with that in mind. But I also went and used every competitor properly before writing a word, because the funny thing is that most of them are worse than you think, and one of them is genuinely great and completely free. Let's go through all of it.
MMR checker vs MMR calculator vs MMR tracker
Start with the naming, because all three are the same thing. Nobody is calculating anything and nothing is being tracked. Riot doesn't publish the number, so every tool here is estimating it from public match data and the word on the button is just what that site decided to call it. Judge them on what's underneath instead: what games they count, and whether they admit to an error range.
Quick refresher on the number itself, and if you want the full version we wrote a whole thing on what MMR actually is.
Riot runs two numbers on your account. There's the rank you see, the badge with the division and the LP, and there's the matchmaking rating underneath it that decides who you actually play against. The badge is for you. The number is for the system. Riot has never shown you the number and has said pretty plainly they don't intend to.
Everything that matters comes from the hidden one. Your LP gains are a function of the gap between your MMR and your rank. Getting +14 and -24 is not bad luck and it is not a conspiracy, it is the system telling you your rank is higher than your rating and quietly correcting it. The badge is a lagging indicator of a number you can't see.
So an MMR checker has exactly one job: estimate the hidden number and tell you what it means for you.
Almost none of them do the second half.
Every MMR checker, ranked
I went worst to best. Same account, same afternoon, Patch 16.14.
Search "mmr checker" right now and count how many results are account shops with a form bolted onto a landing page. There are a lot. The pattern is always the same: the tool is not the product, the tool is the bait. You type your name in, you get a number with no methodology behind it, and then you get sold an account.
Some of them don't even hit the API. The number moves when you refresh. I'm not naming individual ones because half of them will be dead by the time you read this and two more will have taken their place, but you can spot them in a second: if the page has a store nav, a countdown timer, and a "checker" that returns instantly with a suspiciously round number, it's a lead magnet with a calculator drawn on it.
Verdict: These are ads. Full disclosure, we used to sell accounts too, so I'm not going to pretend we discovered ethics yesterday. The difference is our checker is the product now, and you can read a real one before you pay.
Blitz is an overlay that auto-imports builds and tracks your stats, and it does that part fine. What it does not do is tell you your MMR. It never has. It gets recommended in every "how to check your MMR" thread anyway, which tells you how much of that advice is people repeating something they read in another thread.
Installing a desktop app with an overlay, an updater, and a login, all to find out your KDA on Yasuo, is a bad trade when your match history is a website away. If you want the builds, get it for the builds. It is not an answer to this question.
Gives you an MMR number: No. Free: Yes.
Porofessor is genuinely good at the thing it does, which is scouting a live lobby. It'll tell you the enemy jungler is on a six game loss streak and your support has 12 games on Blitzcrank this month. That is real, useful information and I use it.
But it's a pre-game tool. It answers "who am I about to play with" and stops. Ask it why your rank has been frozen since April and it has nothing, because that was never what it was built for. Judging it as an MMR checker is like judging a ward as a weapon.
Gives you an MMR number: No. Best for: Champ select and dodging.
League of Graphs is a beautiful site full of numbers that will never help you. Rank distributions, champion winrates by patch, how you compare to the average Lux. It is the most information per pixel of anything in this list and I like it a lot as a stats site.
There's no hidden MMR number on it though. It shows you what already happened, in charts, with no opinion about any of it. You leave knowing your CS per minute is below average for your rank and precisely as stuck as you were when you arrived.
Gives you an MMR number: No. Best for: Champion and meta stats.
Here's the one nobody seems to know. OP.GG used to have an MMR calculator. It doesn't anymore. They pulled it, and their own help center now says straight out that they don't show your real MMR because Riot doesn't share that number, and that the old calculator went away over Riot's API policy. What you get instead is OP Score, which is a per-game performance grade, not a rating.
OP Score is fine at what it is. It is also not MMR, does not track MMR, and cannot tell you why your LP gains are bad. Yet OP.GG is still the number one answer when anyone asks how to check their MMR, because it was true in 2019 and nobody has updated the folklore since.
Their match history is the best on the internet and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. Just don't go there for a number that isn't there.
Gives you an MMR number: No, not since the calculator was removed. Best for: Match history and champion stats.
Credit where it's due. WhatIsMyMMR is the original, it still works, it's still free, and it's the most statistically honest tool in this entire list. It gives you an estimate with a 95% confidence interval attached, so 1200 plus or minus 100 means it thinks you're somewhere between 1100 and 1300 and it is telling you that instead of hiding it behind a fake-precise single number. It samples solo non-premade games from the last 30 days and excludes premades on purpose, because a duo drags the read.
The catch is the catch it's always had: it works off the games it has data for, so if you're on a smaller region or you haven't played much recently, the interval gets wide and the estimate gets shaky. And it's built to give you a number and a graph. That's it, and it never claimed otherwise.
If all you want is a free number from someone who does the stats properly, use it. Genuinely.
Gives you an MMR number: Yes, with a confidence interval. Free: Yes. Tells you why: No.
Our number is free too. Type your Riot ID, pick your region, get your estimated hidden MMR. No email, no signup, no download. We've run 65,000 plus of these.
What's different is what happens next, and it's the whole reason the thing exists. That's the section below, and it's a pitch, so treat it accordingly.
Gives you an MMR number: Yes, free. Tells you why: Yes, and that part costs money. The comparison table
| Tool | MMR number | Explains the gap | Install needed | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AussyELO | Yes | Yes | No | Free number, $2.99 / $4.99 report |
| WhatIsMyMMR | Yes | No | No | Free |
| OP.GG | Removed | No | No | Free |
| League of Graphs | No | No | No | Free |
| Porofessor | No | No | Optional app | Free |
| Blitz.gg | No | No | Yes | Free |
| Smurf shop checkers | Made up | No | No | Your email address |
The pattern: every free tool in this table stops at the same place. They hand you a number and leave, right at the exact moment the number gets interesting. Nobody is lying to you. They're just all answering the easy half of the question.
Why every MMR checker gives you a different number
Run your name through three of these and you'll get three answers. That's not because two of them are broken.
Nobody has your real MMR. Riot has it and Riot isn't sharing it, so every tool on earth is reverse-engineering it from the outside using public match data. The differences come from the assumptions:
- What games count. WhatIsMyMMR reads solo non-premade games from the last 30 days. We weight your last 20 ranked games. Different window, different number.
- What the lobby is worth. The strongest signal available is who Riot puts you with. If you're consistently in Plat 3 lobbies, Riot thinks you're a Plat 3 player, whatever your badge says. How you score those lobbies changes everything downstream.
- Whether they handle apex ranks. Master and above break naive parsers. We know because it broke ours and we had a Master account reading as Diamond 4 until we fixed it.
- Duos. A premade skews the read. Some tools drop those games. Some don't.
Anyone giving you a bare number with no error bars is overselling. Ours shows plus or minus 20. WhatIsMyMMR shows a full confidence interval. Both of those are estimates from public data, not Riot's internal number, and any tool that tells you different is selling something.
Rough scale so the numbers mean something: Iron sits around 0 to 400, Silver 800 to 1200, Gold 1200 to 1600, Plat 1600 to 2000, Emerald 2000 to 2400, Diamond 2400 to 2800, Master above 2800. If your badge says Plat 4 and your MMR reads 1862, you're being matched as a Gold 1 player. That gap is the entire reason your LP is bad.
What ours does that the others don't
This is the sales pitch. I'll keep it honest and you can go read a real report before you spend anything.
Every other tool answers "what is my MMR". The interesting question is the one right after it: why doesn't my MMR match my rank, and what do I do about it. That question needs someone to actually look at your games, which is why the free tools don't answer it. It costs real money to run.
So we built the thing that does, and we charge for it.
The Hardstuck Report reads every player across your last 20 ranked games, not just you. That's what makes the good parts possible:
- Loser's queue detector. Everyone thinks they're in it. We score every one of your losses against how every player in that lobby actually performed, then tell you the answer with the math, including when the answer is "your own bad games outnumber the ones you couldn't carry". The sample account scored CLEAR. It did not enjoy that.
- Throw detection. Every game you were winning and lost anyway, with the timeline showing exactly where the lead evaporated.
- Lane battles. Head to head against your opponent, every game, gold and levels and the minute it went wrong.
- Lobby strength. Whether you beat players ranked above you or only farm weaker lobbies. This is the one that separates a real climb from a hot streak.
- Session timing. Queue times, streaks, game number. If your winrate falls off a cliff on game four, you get a stop rule. If it doesn't, we don't invent one.
- Build and rune audit. Your actual keystone and items against what wins at your elo on this patch.
- A two-week plan. Ordered, specific, with numbers to hit. Not "ward more".
- A roast. Every report ends with one, written from your own numbers, and it's mean in a way that's hard to argue with because it cites your own stats back at you.
"You have 117 games on a 55.6% Lux and you played her once, as support, went 1/7, and lost. The best pick on this account is a champion you have decided to ignore."
From the free public sample reportThat's from a real report on a real Platinum 3 OCE account, and you can read the whole thing right now without paying or signing up for anything. That's deliberate. If reading a full report start to finish doesn't convince you, don't buy one. It's the best argument we've got and it's free.
What it costs elsewhere: a coach is around $60 an hour and will skim two games before telling you to ward more. A Twitch streamer will do a 90 second OP.GG review for a sub. The Hardstuck Report is $4.99, once, no subscription, and it auto-refunds if it fails to generate.
When you should not pay for this
I'd rather say this than have you buy the wrong thing.
Don't buy it if you just want the number. The number is free on our site and free on WhatIsMyMMR. Take it and go, that's genuinely fine.
Don't buy it under about 8 ranked games in the window. We'll block the purchase anyway, because 6 games is not a pattern, it's a mood. Play more first.
Don't buy it twice in a week. We warn you if you try. Nothing has changed. The report is built off your last 20 games, so it needs roughly 10 new ranked games before it has anything new to tell you.
Don't buy it if you already know your problem. If you know you tilt-queue at 2am and you keep doing it anyway, you don't need a report, you need to log off. We can tell you the same thing for $4.99 but you're not going to like the delivery.
Buy it when you're genuinely stuck, you've got real games on the account, and you can't tell whether it's you or the queue. That's the exact question it was built to answer.
So which MMR checker is the best one
If you want a free number: use ours or WhatIsMyMMR. Both are free, both give you error bars, both are honest about being estimates. WhatIsMyMMR has been doing this longer than we have and it deserves the respect.
If you want match history: OP.GG, obviously. Just know the MMR feature is gone.
If you want to scout a lobby: Porofessor.
If you want to know why you're hardstuck: that's the one nobody else does, and it's the only reason we built ours.
Check your MMR free. Read a real report before you decide.
Your hidden MMR estimate takes about ten seconds, no email required. If the number turns out to be interesting, the report is right there.
Check my MMR, free Read the sample reportWhile you're here: our tier list updates every patch, the climb calculator works out how many games your next rank actually takes, and if your LP gains are the thing bothering you, how to carry in low elo covers the fixable half of that problem.
