ARAM Build Guide

Ahri ARAM Build — Charm One, Kill One, Dash Out

Ahri is one of the most versatile ARAM champions. She can poke with Q, pick with E charm, burst with a full combo, and escape with R. She does everything well and has almost no bad matchups on the Howling Abyss.

Ahri in ARAM is the complete package. She pokes, she bursts, she picks, and she survives. Most ARAM champions are good at one thing — Lux pokes, MF ults, Malphite engages. Ahri does all of it. Her Q is solid poke on a low cooldown. Her E charm is a pick tool that wins fights. Her full combo deletes squishies. And her R gives her three dashes to reposition or escape.

She doesn't have the highest win rate in ARAM, but she has one of the most consistent ones. You're never useless on Ahri regardless of team comp or enemy comp. That flexibility is worth a lot in a mode where you can't choose your champion.

Best Ahri ARAM Runes

Primary: Domination

Electrocute — Ahri procs Electrocute easily with E+W+Q or any 3-ability combo. The burst damage is significant in ARAM where you're looking for quick picks. Electrocute gives you kill pressure that Dark Harvest doesn't have in the early game.

Taste of Blood — Sustain from Q poke. Adds up over the game.

Eyeball Collection — Free AP from takedowns. Ahri gets plenty of kills and assists.

Ultimate Hunter — More ult uptime means more playmaking opportunities. Ahri's R is both her engage and escape — having it up more often is always valuable.

Secondary: Sorcery

Manaflow Band — Ahri needs mana sustain in ARAM. Q spam drains your mana pool fast. Manaflow Band stacks quickly and provides the regen you need for extended fights.

Transcendence — Ability haste scaling. At level 11, ability cooldowns reset 20% on takedowns. In ARAM teamfights with multiple kills, this means your abilities come back up mid-fight.

Dark Harvest works too. If you prefer scaling over early burst, Dark Harvest is a solid alternative. You'll stack it fast with Q poke. The tradeoff is less kill pressure early but more damage late. Electrocute is generally better because ARAM games are decided by early picks and snowballing.

Best Ahri ARAM Items

Core Build (in order)

Luden's Companion — AP, mana, ability haste, and a damage proc. The Luden's proc bounces to nearby enemies, which is great in ARAM where everyone is grouped. Rush this every game.

Sorcerer's Shoes — Flat magic penetration. Makes your burst hit harder in the early-mid game before enemies build MR.

Shadowflame — More AP and magic pen. After Luden's + Shadowflame, your E+W+Q combo kills any squishy from 70% HP.

Rabadon's Deathcap — Massive AP spike. This is where Ahri goes from "annoying poke mage" to "one-shot assassin." Your charm combo now kills from full HP.

Situational 5th & 6th Items

Void Staff — If enemies are building MR. 40% magic pen keeps your damage relevant against tanks and bruisers who bought Hexdrinker or Force of Nature.

Zhonya's Hourglass — If you're getting dove or need to play aggressively. R into the enemy team, burst someone, Zhonya's, then R out when stasis ends. Classic Ahri play.

Banshee's Veil — Against hook champions or pick comps. The spell shield prevents you from getting caught by a random Blitzcrank Q.

Mejai's Soulstealer — If you're ahead and not dying. Ahri's R makes her hard to kill, so maintaining Mejai's stacks is realistic. Buy Dark Seal early.

Don't build Ahri as an enchanter or utility mage. Everfrost, Rylai's, support items — none of it. Ahri's value is burst damage and picks. A full AP Ahri who charms and kills a carry every fight is infinitely more useful than a utility Ahri who slows people slightly.

Ability Order

Max Q first (Orb of Deception), then E (Charm), then W (Fox-Fire). Take R at 6, 11, 16.

Q is your primary poke and waveclear. It deals damage on the way out AND on the way back (true damage on return). In ARAM, you're hitting multiple champions with both passes because they're grouped in the lane.

E second for the charm duration. A max-rank charm lasts 1.4 seconds, which is enough time for your full combo plus your team's follow-up. The longer charm duration is more valuable than W damage.

W is one point. Fox-Fire targets nearby enemies automatically, so it's useful in combos, but the damage scaling isn't worth maxing over Q or E.

ARAM-Specific Tips

Charm is a pick tool, not a poke tool. Don't throw E randomly hoping to hit someone. Save it for when you see a squishy out of position or when your team is ready to follow up. A landed charm on an ADC or mage is a guaranteed kill with your team's help. A missed charm means you have no kill pressure for 10 seconds.

Use R aggressively when you have Zhonya's. R forward, E+W+Q the carry, Zhonya's, then R out when stasis ends. You still have one R charge left to escape. This play is almost impossible to counter and it removes their highest-damage threat from the fight.

Q return damage: Ahri's Q does magic damage on the way out and true damage on the way back. The true damage ignores MR, so it's actually your highest-damage ability against tanks. Position so the Q return path hits priority targets, not just the frontline.

Charm through minions: Unlike Lux Q, Ahri's E stops on the first target hit including minions. You need a clear line to land charm. In ARAM, wait for gaps in the minion wave or position to the side of the bridge where minions aren't blocking.

R for dodging, not just engaging: Your ult dashes are incredibly valuable for dodging key abilities. If Malphite is looking to ult, save an R charge to dash sideways. If Blitzcrank throws a hook, R to the side. Don't blow all 3 charges offensively unless you're sure you can get the kill and survive.

Snowball + charm combo: Hit snowball, dash to the target, immediately E charm them. They're charmed before they can react. Follow up with W+Q for the kill. This is Ahri's most reliable pick combo in ARAM.

When Ahri is Strong vs Weak in ARAM

Ahri is strong against squishy, immobile comps. If the enemy team is mages and ADCs, your charm is a death sentence for anyone you catch. She's also good against poke comps because she can sustain with passive healing and engage with R when she wants to force a fight.

She's weaker against tanky comps where nobody dies to your burst. If they have 3 tanks and 2 bruisers, your charm combo won't kill anyone and you'll feel useless. In these games, focus on poking with Q and charming targets for your team's DPS to follow up on rather than trying to solo-kill.

She also struggles when the enemy has multiple spell shields (Banshee's Veil, Edge of Night, Sivir E). Your charm gets blocked and without it, your burst combo doesn't kill.
