Why High-Elo Players Smurf with Miss Fortune
Low elo players stand in your ultimate. Every. Single. Time. They don't respect the channel, they don't CC you, and they certainly don't spread out. One good Bullet Time in the jungle choke wins the game. Furthermore, low elo supports don't punish your immobility, and low elo ADCs walk up to minions in straight lines—perfect for Double Up bounces.
The Level 1 Cheese
First Blood Strategy
Start Q. Position so a low-HP minion is between you and the enemy ADC. Q the minion—the bounce will crit and chunk the ADC for 40% HP. Repeat. By level 3, they're either dead or forced to recall. The bounce does BONUS damage to the second target if the first target dies.
The 'Pay-to-Win' Skin Advantage
'Gun Goddess Miss Fortune' has 4 forms, but the 'Scarlet Fair' form has the cleanest R visual. 'Captain Fortune' has a distinct Q sound that's easier to time. 'Pool Party' is visually distracting for enemies (good). Avoid 'Crime City MF' for ranked—the abilities blend into dark terrain.
When They Ban Miss Fortune
Backup Pick: If MF is banned,
Jhin offers similar lane bully + teamfight presence.
Ashe provides utility with strong ult engage.
Caitlyn is another lane-dominant ADC.
Rune Setup
Best Runes: Press the Attack for single-target burst trading. Lethal Tempo if you expect extended fights. First Strike is niche but excellent if you're hitting lots of Q bounces (gold on every bounce). Secondary Absolute Focus + Gathering Storm for raw AD scaling. Arcane Comet with E max is a poke-focused alternative that ruins melee supports.
Skill Priority
Order:
Q → W → E(Alternatively Q > E > W for poke lanes). Max Q first always. Max W second for attack speed and chasing. Max E second into poke lanes (Caitlyn/Xerath supports) because the slow zone provides safety.
Mastering Miss Fortune's Kit
Double Up bounces to the nearest target behind the first. If the first target DIES, the bounce CRITS. Always aim for dying minions. The bounce can also execute champions if they're standing behind their dying support.
Strut is two abilities in one—passive movement speed while not taking damage, and active attack speed steroid. Use it AFTER they commit to a fight, not before. It resets on kills.
Make It Rain creates a slow field that grants vision. Use it to check bushes, slow chasing enemies, or zone during objectives. It also procs Cheap Shot if you run Domination secondary.
Bullet Time fires waves of bullets in a cone. Standing IN the cone stacks the damage. Don't cancel it early! Enemies take more damage the longer they stand in it. Position for maximum coverage on clumped enemies.
Matchup Tips
Vs Caitlyn
Skill Matchup. She outranges you, but your Q poke is stronger. Standing behind minions protects you from traps but opens you to Q bounces. Trade Q for Q.
Vs Kai'Sa
Easy Lane. She needs to get close; you punish that. Poke with Q, zone with E, all-in at level 6.
Hard Counter. He out-damages you at every stage. Never trade autos. Poke with Q from safety, outscale in teamfights.
The Ego Check
WARNING: Stop ulting in the middle of the enemy team. Your R is a CHANNEL. You stand still. If you ult into 5 enemies, you will die. Position BEHIND your front line, or flank from fog of war. Also, stop using W to walk to lane. Your passive (Strut) gives free movement speed—save W for fights.
When to Queue Dodge
Dodge if facing Samira or Yasuo/Yone. Their windwalls block your entire ultimate. Also dodge into heavy engage (Leona + Jarvan)—you have no escapes, and they will run you down.
Teamfight Role
Wait for major CC to be used. Then R from MAXIMUM range or from a flanking position. Your ult shreds entire teams if they're clumped in the jungle. After R, use Q for cleanup on low-HP targets. Position for the angle, not for the damage.
The 'Disrespect' Build
Lethality MF. Eclipse -> Collector -> Opportunity -> Serylda's. Your Q bounce one-shots squishies, and your R channels true terror. It's riskier than crit but far more tilting for enemies.
Power Windows
Level 1-2 with Q poke. BF Sword back is a massive spike. First item completion (Kraken or Eclipse) is when you start killing. Level 11 (Rank 2 Ult) dramatically increases your teamfight impact.
Tilt Factor
Laugh after every Q bounce that chunks them. Use 'Ace!' emote after every kill. Stand in vision and channel R slowly from fog of war—enemies see the channel indicator and panic. Walk into lane with Strut active—it shows you own the lane.
