Champion Stats
Low elo players fundamentally don't respect the Awakened Q damage. An isolated Awakened Q deals massive % max HP lightning damage that bounces between targets—if there's only one enemy nearby, ALL the bounces hit them for absurd damage. They also cannot kite Udyr effectively because they don't know how to space properly. You simply E (stun), Q (delete), and run away before they process what happened. A smurf cycles stances constantly to maintain the passive movement speed bonus and never stops applying pressure. You're always farming, always ganking, always invading—the enemy jungler can't keep up.
The Stance Dance
Start Q (Wilding Claw) or R (Wingborne Storm) depending on your build path. Hide in a jungle brush or lane brush. If they facecheck, immediately press Awakened Q (by pressing Q twice quickly or waiting for the Awaken window) then auto-attack twice. The lightning bounces deal obscene damage when the target is isolated—you can easily chunk someone for 50% HP at Level 1. Most players don't expect this damage from a 'stat-check' champion like Udyr. Tiger stance Level 1 is legitimately one of the highest damage outputs in the game if used correctly.
Udyr's Best Skins
'Spirit Guard Udyr' is mandatory. It's the ultimate skin that feels like a visual update. 'Dragon Oracle' is okay. 'Definitely Not Udyr' is funny. Do not use default.
'Spirit Guard' is importantly the 'real' Udyr. The animations for each stance are unique and fluid. 'Definitely Not Udyr' is the best for trolling—slapping gods with a onesie never gets old.
'Spirit Guard Udyr' is the only playable skin. It's an Ultimate skin for a reason. The animations are crisp. 'Definetly Not Udyr' is for the memes. But Spirit Guard is for the wins.
When They Ban Udyr
If Udyr is gone, Volibear is the best' stun-and-run' pivot. If you want more speed, Hecarim. But nothing replaces the 4-stance flow. Accept no substitutes for the spirit walker.
Volibear is the lightning version of you. Hecarim is the fast version. Trundle is the troll version. Volibear matches the 'run down and slap' energy best.
Best Runes for Udyr
Conqueror (AD) or Phase Rush (AP/Tank). Press the Attack helps burst. Triumph, Tenacity, Last Stand. Secondary Sorcery (Celerity/Waterwalking) for jungle speed.
Mastering Udyr's Kit
Wilding Claw. Attack speed + On-hit damage. Awakened: Chain lightning deals max HP damage.
Iron Mantle. Shield + Lifesteal. Awakened: Massive Shield + HP regen.
Blazing Stampede. Move speed + Stun on first auto. Awakened: CC Immunity and faster speed.
Wingborne Storm. AOE Slow storm + Magic damage. Awakened: Storm chases enemies and deals % HP damage.
Udyr's Best & Worst Matchups
Nightmare. Perma slow. You never reach her. Don't pick Udyr into Ashe.
Hard. Cataclysm traps you. Save flash for it.
Skill. You can interrupt his Q2 with E stun. You outscale him.
Wrong Stance Syndrome
Stop wasting your Awakened passive! You only get an Awakened cast every 30-40 seconds depending on your level and items. Awakened abilities are SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than normal casts—don't waste Awakened W just to heal chip damage from a Ziggs bomb. Save your Awakened stacks for Awakened Q (massive burst damage in fights) or Awakened R (giant AOE slow for teamfight disruption). Also, don't just run at enemies in a straight line and wonder why you're getting kited. Use your massive movement speed to juke skillshots, take unpredictable angles, and dodge CC. You're fast—use that speed for evasion, not just chasing.
When You Can't Win the Side Lane
Dodge Anivia or Jarvan IV. You have no dash. Walls counter you hard. You just stand there and get hit.
Anivia wall. J4 Arena. Yorick cage. You are trapped. Flash or die. Don't pick Udyr into terrain creators.
Dodge Anivia/Jarvan IV. Walls are your kryptonite. You can't run through terrain. You just stand there and die. It's embarrassing. Don't do it.
The Frontline Brawl
In teamfights, you are a disruption machine. Awakened R to slow the entire enemy team and create chaos. E to stun the diver. Q to burst the carry. Cycle stances wildly (mash keys) to keep your passive attack speed and global cooldowns rolling.
In teamfights, cycle your stances. Awakened R for AOE slow and damage, then Bear to stun whoever is closest. Use Boar for the shield. You are a walking RAID BOSS—nothing stops the spirit walker.
Awakened R (Storm) serves as a massive zoning tool. Cycle E-stun on divers. Q-isolate damage on the carry. You are a raid boss. Make them focus you while your team cleans up.
The AD Udyr Build
Lethality Udyr (The 'dyr'). Prowler's (if available) -> Youmuu's -> Collector. Flash -> E -> Awakened Q. The enemy ADC disappears instantly. Highly volatile but hilarious.
Stridebreaker into Deadman's. You're the fastest thing on the rift. Run them down, slap them, and run away. Or go Full AP Phoenix for the AOE melt. Udyr can do everything—be the flex king.
Trinity Force -> Sterak's -> Dead Man's Plate. You need speed and sheen procs. Hullbreaker if you want to end the game alone. You take towers faster than a cannon minion.
Udyr's Power Spikes
Level 4 (All stances). Trinity Force/Divine Sunderer spike. Late game split push is unstoppable.
Level 4 when you have all stances. Level 11 when your main stance is maxed. 2-item tank/bruiser core. By late game, you're a split-pushing god who can't be caught. Open the gates.
Level 4 (All stances Unlocked). Trinity Force Spike. Late game Awakened R teamfights. You are strongest when you have the movement speed to force fights on your terms.
The Bear Slap
Spam 'Bear Stance' roar while running at them. Type 'Open the gates' as you breach their base. Running circles around them and barely surviving tilts them.
The sound of the Bear-stance stun is a death knell for carries. If you reach them, they die. Use your speed to weave through skillshots. You're the hunter; the rift is your forest.
Flash-E (Bear Stance) is undodgeable point-click CC. Slap the carry. Awakened Q (Lightning). They pop. Run away in E stance. Disrespect is part of the kit.
