Champion Stats
Low elo players don't respects Rumble's damage when he is high heat. They will try to trade with him while he is in the 'Danger Zone', not realizing his Flamespitter (Q) deals 50% more damage. They also clump up in corridors, making them easy targets for his ultimate. A smurf can also manage Overheat perfectly, using the bonus AA damage to win trades that seem impossible.
The Flamespitter Trade
Start Q (Flamespitter). Level 1, if you can reach 50+ heat and then use Q, your damage is significantly higher than most top laners. You can push the wave and harass the enemy simultaneously. Level 2 with E (Electro-Harpoon) gives you the slow needed to keep them in your fire.
Manage your heat. 50% heat enhances Q damage. Overheat (100%) makes autos hurt but silences you. Trade with Q at 50-90 heat. Overheat to finish kills with autos.
Which Rumble Skin to Use
'Super Galaxy Rumble' is the legendary smurf skin—the unique voice lines and 'anime mech' theme are iconic. 'Badlands Baron Rumble' offers a great 'Mad Max' vibe. 'Space Groove Rumble' has amazing modern visual effects. Avoid 'Bilgerat Rumble' as it's very basic.
'Super Galaxy' is the only choice for real mains. The 'drill' E and the anime-voice lines are part of the kit. 'Badlands Baron' is a great 'alternative' for a gritty feel. Rumble the world.
'Super Galaxy' is the only skin. The voice lines, the drill spin, the smoothness. Base Rumble is clunky. Pay the tax for Super Galaxy.
When They Ban Rumble
If Rumble is banned, Kennen offers a similar 'AOE-ultimate' teamfight presence. Vladimir for the scaling AOE magic damage. Mordekaiser for the raw bruiser power and AOE.
Kennen has the big R. Vladimir has the AOE. Mordekaiser has the AP bruiser vibe. Kennen is the teamfight equivalent.
Kennen for the AOE stun. Vladimir for the AOE damage. Mordekaiser for the AP bruiser. Kennen is the teamfight winner alternative.
Optimal Runes for Rumble
Arcane Comet is the best choice for maximizing your poke and harpoon damage. Electrocute is an alternative for high burst in short trades. Secondary Inspiration with Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight for cooldowns and speed.
Rumble's Ability Priority
Max Q first—it's your primary damage source and clear tool. Max E second for the magic resist shred and slow. Max W last as the shield is sufficient with levels.
Mastering Rumble's Kit
Flamespitter. Rumble torches enemies in a cone in front of him. In the Danger Zone, it deals 50% bonus damage. This is your primary source of consistent DPS.
Scrap Shield. Rumble creates a shield and gains a burst of Movement Speed. In the Danger Zone, the effect is increased. Use this to dodge skillshots and close the gap.
Electro-Harpoon. Rumble fires a harpoon that slows and reduces the Magic Resist of enemies. In the Danger Zone, the effect is increased. You have two charges.
The Equalizer. Rumble fires a line of rockets that creates a trail of fire. Enemies in the fire are slowed and take massive magic damage over time. This is a game-changing ultimate.
Rumble's Lane Opponents
Skill Matchup. You can poke him with E and Q, but if he pulls you, you're in trouble. Use your W speed to stay out of his range and save your R for when he commits to a fight.
Hard Matchup. She can dash through your fire and out-duel you in long trades. You have to win the poke battle early or she will out-scale you levels 6-11.
Easy Matchup. You can easily out-damage his shield and his tankiness is negated by your E's magic resist shred. Just keep the fire on him and win the lane.
Overheat Mismanagement
Stop overheating at the wrong time! If you overheat before you can use your R, you lose your most important contribution to the fight. Keep your heat between 50 and 90 to stay in the 'Danger Zone'. Also, don't miss your harpoons—the MR shred is vital for your Q damage to be effective.
Never overheat before your R is ready. Your Ult is 70% of your power in a teamfight. If you mess up the heat, you're just a small yordle with a flamethrower. Keep it in the zone. Be smart.
When You Can't Win the Side Lane
Dodge if facing heavy 'hyper-mobility' or 'long-range siege' comps with Ezreal, Kassadin, or Xerath if your team has no engage. They can outpace or out-range your fire. Also dodge into Tahm Kench who can out-tank and save allies from your R.
Ezreal/Karma just kite you. You need Flash to engage. If Flash is down, you are a minion. Don't chase. Clear waves with R and roam.
Dodge Ezreal/Xerath. They kite you. You can't roast them. Also Tahm Kench—he eats your target and ignores your damage.
The Frontline Brawl
In teamfights, you are the ultimateAOE threat. Your R (The Equalizer) is your most important tool. Look for a path where the enemy is forced to walk or stay, like a jungle entrance or around a dragon. Follow up your R with Q and E. If you overheat, use your empowered auto-attacks on whoever is closest.
You deal more damage in the 'Danger Zone' (50-90 Heat). Manage it carefully. If you reach 100, you are silenced but your autos deal massive magic damage. Use this to finish off a target. Be a hot mess.
The AP Rumble Build
Full AP 'Magic-Pen' Rumble. Protobelt -> Sorcerer's Shoes -> Void Staff. With this build, your Q and R will melt even the tankiest enemies. It's hilarious to see a small yordle in a scrap-heap mech deleting an entire team in seconds. Maximum BM, high-risk.
Liandry's into Riftmaker is the high-burn core. Your Q will melt tanks while your R deletes squishies. Add a Zhonya's for the 'Overheat-Gold' play—burn them, overheat, and go golden while they die. Efficiency.
Liandry's -> Riftmaker -> Zhonya's. The burn is real. Your Q melts tanks. Your R melts backlines. Zhonya's lets you stay in the fire.
Timing Rumble's All-Ins
Level 1-3 is your strongest lane poke phase. Level 6 is your massive teamfight spike. Your biggest item spike is reaching Liandry's Anguish or Riftmaker, which exponentially increases your sustained burn damage.
Level 1 Q-poke is insane against melee. Level 6 is your teamfight peak. By 2 items, your fireballs (E) will shred through any MR they bought. Don't let them cool down—keep the pressure hot.
Level 3 Heat management. Level 6 Equalizer. Liandry's Spike. You own the mid-game dragon fights. Force them into chokes.
The Equalizer
Type 'Watch the heat!' in all-chat after a successful overheat-kill. Spam the 'laugh' emote while burning someone under their tower. The sight of a giant row of missiles taking up the entire screen is purely tilting for the enemy.
Your Ult is the 'Equalizer' because it makes everything unfair for them. Use it to cut off their escape in a jungle corridor. The burn damage is insane if they stand in it for even 2 seconds.
Drop the R in the jungle choke point. Watch them burn. Type 'Is it hot in here?' in chat. A good Equalizer wins the game instantly.
