Patch Preview
Champion buffs, nerfs, adjustments, and system changes
Patch 26.6 preview just dropped and Riot says the game is "pretty healthy" right now. That tracks — 26.5 didn't blow anything up, and the meta has been relatively stable since the big Season 16 item overhaul settled.
This one's a lighter patch. Six buffs aimed at champs that have been quietly suffering, four nerfs targeting the usual suspects who crept up too high, and a Karthus adjustment. The system changes are interesting though — Chempunk Chainsword is getting some love, Sunfire Aegis is on the buff list, and the support item minion penalty is getting removed entirely.
Riot also mentioned they're looking at "unloved" champions over the coming patches and want community suggestions. So if your main has been in the gutter, now's the time to be loud about it.
This is the preview — specific numbers aren't out yet. We'll update this article with exact values once the full changelist drops. The champions and direction (buff/nerf) are confirmed.
Champion Buffs
Six champions getting some power this patch. Azir's back in the buff column after getting nerfed in 26.5 — Riot giveth and Riot taketh away.

Champion Nerfs
Four nerfs this cycle. Shen jungle is getting tapped, Zaahen is too strong everywhere, and Ahri and Pyke round out the list.

Champion Adjustments

System Changes
Three system changes this patch. The support item penalty removal is the headline — that's been annoying support players for years.
Chempunk Chainsword
Buffed. Has been one of the weaker Grievous Wounds items. Riot doesn't want Grievous to be too common (it degrades healing champion kits), but Chempunk specifically is underperforming even for that niche.
Sunfire Aegis
Buffed. Tank itemization getting a nudge. Sunfire has been overshadowed by other options for a while now.
Support Item Minion Penalty
Removed. The CS penalty on support items was originally there to prevent funneling strategies. With role quests in Season 16, the funneling risk is way lower, so Riot's pulling the drawback entirely. Good riddance.
What This Means for the Meta
This is a maintenance patch more than a meta-shaker. The biggest impact is probably the support item change — removing the minion penalty means supports who accidentally tax waves won't get punished, and it opens up some niche strategies for roaming supports who want to catch side waves.
The Zaahen nerfs are worth watching. He's the newest champion and Riot is still dialing him in. If the jungle nerfs are heavy enough, he might shift to a Top-primary pick.
Shen jungle players, enjoy it while it lasts. The nerf is coming but Riot specifically said they think it's "awesome" that he's viable there, so don't expect them to kill it — just tone it down.
For everyone else, the buffs to Azir, Cassio, and Lissandra suggest Riot wants more mage diversity in mid. If you're tired of seeing the same three mid laners every game, this patch might help.

Azir's health growth nerf in 26.5 (119 to 108) hit harder than intended. Riot is giving him power back in 26.6 to compensate.
