Trundle is the Troll King, a stat-stealing juggernaut who is quite literally designed to make tanks useless while taking towers faster than any other champion in the game. His R (Subjugate) steals 40% of an enemy's Armor and Magic Resist, turning their tanky frontliner into a squishy punching bag while making Trundle himself unkillable. In the hands of a smurf, Trundle is the ultimate split-push terror. You take their tower before they can rotate, and if anyone comes to stop you, you just kill them with your stolen stats and superior dueling. He also has one of the strongest Level 1s in the game—if you let Trundle auto-attack you at Level 1, you lose the trade. Period.

Why High-Elo Players Smurf with Trundle

Low elo players fundamentally don't respect the Level 1 auto-attack war. Trundle with Lethal Tempo and Q spam beats almost every single champion in the game at Level 1. They also build tank stats against Trundle without realizing that he steals 40% of those stats with his ultimate—the tankier they build, the tankier YOU become. A smurf abuses this to split push to the inhibitor by 15 minutes while the enemy team argues about who should stop you. With Hullbreaker, you are essentially a raid boss that requires two people to deal with, freeing your team to win everywhere else on the map.

The Level 1 Cheese

🧀 First Blood Strategy

Start Q (Chomp). Position in the tri-bush or river brush before minions spawn. Wait for the enemy to leash their jungler or walk carelessly to lane. The moment they're in range, Auto > Q (resets auto timer and steals their AD) > Auto. The Q steals their Attack Damage for 5 seconds, making them weaker while making you stronger. You win EVERY slap-fight at Level 1 because they literally can't trade back effectively with reduced AD. Force a Flash or kill them outright. This cheese works against 95% of top laners.

The 'Pay-to-Win' Skin Advantage

'Traditional Trundle' (Legacy) is the best classic design. 'Constable Trundle' has the wee-woo pillar. 'Dragonslayer' is cool. Default is ugly but functional.

When They Ban Trundle

Backup Pick: If Trundle is banned, Jax for the dueling/split. Yorick for the tower taking. Warwick for the drain-tank style.

Rune Setup

Best Runes: Lethal Tempo (if available) or Press the Attack. Triumph, Alacrity, Last Stand. Secondary Resolve with Demolish (Mandatory) and Bone Plating. You are here to take towers.

Skill Priority

Order:

Q → W → EMax Q for the AD steal and damage. Max W second for the attack speed/move speed. E last.

Mastering Trundle's Kit

Q Chomp

Chomp. Bites enemy. Deals damage, slows, steals AD. Resets auto timer. Key to DPS.

W Frozen Domain

Frozen Domain. Creates a zone. Gains massize Attack Speed and Move Speed inside. Increases healing.

E Pillar of Ice

Pillar of Ice. Creates a pillar terrain. Knocks back enemies on spawn. Slows around it. Use to block paths or cancel channels.

R Subjugate

Subjugate. Drains HP, Armor, and MR from target. Steals 40% of their resistances. Makes you unkillable.

Matchup Tips

Vs Jax

Counter. He presses E, you can't hit him. He stuns you. You die. Bait E, disengage with E, then fight.

Vs Teemo

Hard. Blind makes your Q do nothing. Run him down with W/E or suffer.

Vs Ornn

Easy. You ult him after he becomes tanky. You steal 200 armor. He cries.

The Ego Check

WARNING: Stop ulting the wrong target! Subjugate (R) steals Armor and Magic Resist from the target—the more resistances they have, the more you steal. If you ult the enemy ADC with 40 armor, you steal 16 armor. If you ult the enemy Ornn with 300 armor, you steal 120 armor. Always ult the TANK or whoever has the most resistances (usually the Aftershock user in teamfights). Ulting the squishy is literally griefing your own durability. Also, your E (Pillar of Ice) is one of the best disengage and chasing tools in the game—use it to interrupt channels, block paths, and create terrain. Don't just spam it randomly.

When to Queue Dodge

Dodge Jax or Teemo. Jax dodges your autos. Teemo blinds your autos. You are an auto-attack champion. You lose.

Teamfight Role

In teamfights, you are a tank-buster. Ult their main tank immediately to make them squishy and yourself tanky. Use E to disrupt their backline or peel. Focus the person you ulted or dive the ADC with your stolen stats. Alternatively, ignore the teamfight and take their base.

The 'Disrespect' Build

Crit Trundle. Essence Reaver -> Infinity Edge. Your Q can crit. One bite deals 1200 damage. Usually bad, but hilarious when ahead.

Power Windows

Level 1 (Strongest lvl 1 in game). Level 6 (Stat steal spike). Trinity Force/Hullbreaker completion.

Tilt Factor

Dance on their corpse (Trundle dance is great). Spam pillar (E) to interrupt their recalls slightly. Hitting the tower while they hit you is the ultimate disrespect.
