The token math no longer works
Riot removed the Event Shop and event tokens when it introduced the 2025 battle pass system. Rewards moved onto the track. Advice about farming tokens per minute and buying random champion shards from that old shop does not describe the seasonal pass system.
That announcement explains the change. Its original reward list and prices are historical details, not a promise that every 2026 pass has identical contents. Do not buy because a guide pasted an old bundle list under a new year.
Your current pass progress is a useful starting point for estimating completion time. A generic games-per-hour number cannot account for your missions, schedule and remaining rewards.
Season 16 battle pass value: count only the upgrade
Open the current pass and compare the free rewards with the paid rewards. Anything you can earn without buying belongs in the free column. Counting it again as a benefit of the purchase inflates the value.
For each reward you care about, write down the level needed, whether it requires payment and whether you actually want it. Your table can be this simple:

Keep random loot separate from a specific skin. If you want one champion's cosmetic, a random reward is not a substitute at its full shop price. An emote you will never equip can have a theoretical price and still be worth nothing to you.
Buying for cosmetics on an alt
The easiest case is a reward you like for a champion you play regularly on that account. You know where you will use it. You can decide whether the cash top-up and remaining progression fit your budget.
The weaker case is buying because the bundle looks generous. Ten things you do not want are still ten things you do not want. A border also does not become useful because the client puts a countdown next to it.
Before paying, check which account is signed in. If you spend most of your games on your main, a reward sitting on an occasional alt might see very little use. Include that in your decision instead of assuming every skin has the same personal value everywhere.
Buying for Blue Essence or champion unlocks
If champions are your priority, inspect the exact rewards available to you. Add up the guaranteed BE on the free track separately from any BE or champion rewards that actually require payment. Do not convert every cosmetic into imaginary champion purchasing power.
Then price the champions you want in the client. Check your Loot inventory before paying full BE for a champion whose shard you already have. Use the BE calculator for a planning estimate and confirm the final unlock cost in-game.

Estimate time from your own progress
Watch the progress you make during a normal week. Include the missions you actually complete and the modes you actually enjoy. Then compare that with the remaining levels and deadline displayed by the current pass.
For example, suppose you need 12 more levels and have three weeks left. That is four levels per week. Those are hypothetical numbers, not the requirements of a current Riot pass. If your usual week produces two levels, buying first and hoping to double your play time is a poor plan.
Leave room for missed days. A pass that fits your normal schedule is easier to justify than one that requires you to turn every evening into a mission checklist. If you are considering a late purchase, verify in the current offer how previously earned progress and rewards are handled before paying.
Compare purchases with the same goal

If you independently want another account, compare the listed contents of LoL accounts and read the purchase risks and refund policy. Do not assume stock contains a premium pass, particular skins or unopened chests unless the listing says so. A BE balance is not the same as an unlocked champion collection.
My buying rule: pay for rewards you want and can reasonably reach. If the paid track adds nothing you care about, stay on the free track and play your games.
